Apply for the Teens in Tech and Impact Awards
The Knowledge Society (TKS) is looking to support Ottawa's most curious and ambitious high school students with unparalleled access to resources, opportunities and a network to help them succeed. To celebrate all of Ottawa young innovators, TKS is giving away a $2000 Award for a teen working on an impact or technology-driven project. The winning student may choose to accept a full-ride scholarship for the program if they wish to join.
To apply, fill out this short video application by May 25th, 2022. The winner will be selected by TKS' co-founders and announced on June 1.

HS Leadership Camp: Leadership Camp is back! High School Leadership Camp 2022 will be taking place this September after our two year COVID hiatus. It will take place at Red Pine Camp for 3 days and 2 nights from September 19-21, 2022. Students will take part in team building, leadership and recreational activities that are led by Gr. 12 students and supervised by St. Mother Teresa staff.

Current grade 8-10 students can apply for camp starting Tuesday, May 24th, by signing up outside of Student Services or the High School Art room (room 201). Deadline to apply is Tuesday May 31st.  If you have any questions please see Mrs. Byrne in Student Services or Mrs. Villeneuve in room 201. 


  Civics & Citizenship and Career Studies come alive as students travel to Ottawa, Toronto, Niagara Falls and New York City! Students learn the role Canada plays in an increasingly interconnected global community and start building their own personal definition of “citizenship.” From Parliament to the United Nations, students see how their career choice can allow them to have a meaningful impact on the world.Students will write campaign speeches, enact dramatizations about Canadian civics, explore the field of photojournalism, and get firsthand experience in financial literacy. Nights are filled with fun events that include a dance party in Niagara Falls and a Broadway show in NYC!

Student Tutors Needed for Math - We are currently in need of students in Grade 11 or 12 who can tutor math. Tutors are paid $15/hour or you can earn community service hours. FALL 2022 Dual Credit Opportunities at Algonquin College are now listed on the Office of Academic Partnership's website.

 

Applications are now being accepted until Friday, June 3rd at 11:59PM for the equal consideration period. Applications will be processed on a first come, first serve basis. The Dual Credit Coordinator is currently working on updating the course descriptions which should be available very soon.  All of the Dual Credit courses for Fall 2022 will be offered on campus.

Ottawa Film Volunteer Opportunity

Our next festival is the Latin American Film Festival (LAFF) from May 5-13, where we will be showcasing feature films from different Latin American countries. These screenings will take place at the Ottawa Art Gallery. We are always looking for more volunteers and I was wondering if it would be possible to pass this opportunity onto your students interested in acquiring more volunteer hours? Volunteers need to be 15 years of age or older.

If any students are interested they can email volunteer@iffo.ca for more information. LAFF volunteers will also receive a free ticket for each 2 hour shift in order to enjoy the festival!

CHEO 

 

We are actively recruiting over 400 route attendants to volunteer at this years CN Cycle for CHEO on May 1st.

 

As a volunteer, volunteers (16+) will receive:

~ Orientation

~ Breakfast: fruit, pastries, hot & cold drinks

~ CN Cycle for CHEO volunteer t-shirt

~ Rain poncho (available if needed)

~ Entry into the exclusive volunteer prize draw

~ Barbecue lunch at the volunteer tent

~ A fun time and the satisfaction of helping a great cause!
