WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Students with overdue books and fines are asked to go to the Learning Commons after morning announcements. (MP Nov. 13)

To help us honour the special people who have passed away in the last 12 months we will have our "Titans Book of Remembrance" available outside of the chapel. Please write the name of your family member, friend, or loved one who has passed away and we will read their names as a Roll Call during our Wednesday Chapel Mass Nov. 18th. The Waupoos Foundation is having an evening of Pop and Gospel music featuring the harmonies of Gracenote and the Andy Duffy Trio along with special guest fiddler Peter Dawson.  This concert will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 174 Wilbrod Street on Saturday, November 14th, 2015, at 8:00pm. 100% of the “free-will offering” will go to the Waupoos Foundation in support of low income families in need! The high needs class is collecting any and all used and dried out markers. Any kind will do. We will be sorting them and mailing them off to be recycled for clean energy instead of making more landfill. If you have any markers please deposit them into the marker recycle box outside of room 308. This will be on going until December. Please help us prevent dried out markers from becoming landfill. (ER Dec. 1)

The Individual Student Reports for students who wrote the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test in March 2015, will be distributed with the midterm report cards on Nov 13th. Parents wishing to pick up these reports prior to report card distribution can do so at the main office. (MC Nov. 13)

HS Swim Team: Students interested in the swim team are reminded to bring their permission forms to practice. Forms can also be dropped off (or picked up if you are in need of one) in room 302. Any high school student interested in joining the X-Country Ski Team is asked to meet in room 103 Wednesday November 11 in room 103 at 11:30 am. See Mr. Francoeur if you can't attend. (MF Nov. 11)

Survivor Is Back!!! All students (grade 9-12) interested in participating in our 2nd Survivor Challenge is asked to apply onmy.mths.ca by November 17th.  Can you OUT WIT, OUT PLAY, OUT LAST? (EB Nov. 17)

Are you a Grade 11 or 12 student who is interested in working over the Christmas Break? Canadian Food Inspection Agency is hiring 4 students to do data entry work that pertains to licenses, permits and registration in the plant, food, or animal lines. You will be trained and as a result of your work, you will receive good hourly wages, a security clearance check good for a few years and impressive government work experience to add to your resume. Bilingual students will be given priority. Student who do well working over the Christmas Break will be considered for summer positions as well. Interested? New debaters are always welcome.  Room 138 after school.

Debate Club: High school students are invited to attend any or all of the following Debate Club dates.  All meetings are until 4:15 and will take place in Rm. 138.

We need a minimum of four debaters to attend each meeting.  The mock debates are a great way to develop thinking and oral skills.  Plus, it's a lot of fun. November 2 resolution: This House would abolish grades and adopt a pass or fail educational system. (JS Dec. 14)

Attention Coop Students interested in doing a coop at Ottawa Police next semester (Starting February 2016) Please see Mrs O’Sullivan in room 320 or Mr. Francoeur in room 103 to pick up an application form. Interviews will be scheduled on a "first-come, first-served" basis with a maximum of two students candidates submitted per school. All interviews will happen at Ottawa Police Services between Monday, Nov 16 and Thursday November 19. Students must present the following: (1) Their completed Student Application form (2)Their resume (3) Two (2) letters of recommendation. Students will also be asked to complete two (2) practical tests on site at Ottawa Police prior to commencing the interview at the designated time. (MO Nov. 19)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

LF Volunteers for the Manotick Family Christmas Party on Saturday, December 5th, 2015.  We need students from 1pm to 4:30pm to help with the 10 activity stations set up in the basement of the Manotick United Church.  It's a fun afternoon.  Please contact Donna Ouellette or Laurel Slattery at 613-692-4625 (Rideau Valley Child Care Centre). LF Volunteers at the Barrhaven Santa Claus Parade on November 22, 2015.  Parade starts at 5:30pm. Hand out candy to crowd, help put up and take down parade decor along parade route. The Mayor's 15th Annual Christmas Celebration taking place at Ottawa City Hall from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5thth, 2015.Festivities will include skating on the Sens Rink of Dreams, horse-drawn wagon rides, hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows.  Indoors, children can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and make a craft in Santa’s workshop.  There will also be live entertainment in Andrew Haydon Hall.

We are asking volunteers to arrive no than 12:30 p.m. at the Festival Control Boardroom (located on the 1st floor of City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West) to sign-in, get a briefing on how the event will unfold, have a bite to eat and get into position.  A light lunch will be provided to volunteers before the event – a vegetarian option will be available. Please be prepared to work until approximately 7:30 p.m. given that we will need help after the event to assist with clean up.
