WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Student Cards Required for Learning Commons Sign-Outs: Now that student cards have been distributed, please be prepared to present yours in order to sign out devices or books in the Learning Commons going forward.  If you have not yet received your card, please remember that your barcode is available in my.mths.ca

Writing Contest: Short story and personal essay submissions for the Speaker's Award for Youth Writers are now being accepted from September 30-November 6. There are awards at all levels: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12.  More information and an on-line application are available atdiscoveryportal@ontla.on.ca (JS Oct. 16)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Any 7/8 student interested in trying out for the 7/8 amateur wrestling team is asked to come to a brief but important meeting at the beginning of lunch (12:22)  on Tues. Oct. 13. outside of Mr. Quinn's room. (TQ Oct. 13)

7-8 Girls Volleyball: There will be two practices this week for the girls 7-8 Volleyball Team in the caf gym. Wednesday October 7th and Thursday October 8th from 3-4:15pm. Please let Mme Beraldin know if you cannot attend. (JB Oct. 8)

Any High School Students interested in getting some volunteer hours and has a reasonable to high knowledge of Volleyball and willing to REF home and away games is asked to come see Mme. Beraldin in room 332. (JB Oct. 14)

The 2015 H.S Girls' Hockey Team list will be posted Monday at lunch on the wood floor gym door.  First team meeting will be Tuesday at lunch in room 309. The first practice will be Thursday, October 8th from 3:30-4:30 at Sportsplex #2.  (MG Oct. 8)

Senior Boys' Basketball team tryouts will take place on the following dates:

Tuesday, October 20th 2015 @ 4:30 PM - wood floor gym

Friday, October 23rd @ 3:00pm - wood floor gym

All interested boys' must attend these tryouts - if you have any questions see Mr. Rowley in Room 136. (MR Oct. 23)

Compete in the annual High School Perfect Pitch Competition held at Ottawa University on October 28th.  Help us defend our title!  (Mother Teresa students have won four years running!!!) Summer High School Credits in Ireland-The Irish Experience- 4-week credit programs in Ireland, at University settings - Dublin and Cork cities July 2106.  For information, visit their website at :

Driver Education Registration forms are now available in Student Services. Sign up quickly as class sizes are limited.  Classes start at MTHS on Wednesday, October 21st from 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm.  Students must be at least 16 years of age and have a G1 license prior to October 19, 2015. Are you a grade 12 student looking for a challenge while getting a first rate post-secondary education?  The Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre Ottawa will be hosting an ROTP (Regular Officer Training Plan) information session on Sunday, October 18, 2015.  10:00 am to noon (English), 1pm-3pm (French) at the Cartier Square Drill Hall, 2 Queen Elizabeth Drive.  ROTP gives young Canadians the opportunity to obtain a fully subsidized university education, an Officer's commission in the Canadian Armed Forces and guaranteed employment upon graduation. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Looking for volunteers, ages 14+ for Haunt Nights at Watson's Mill Manotick from October 22 - 24nd from 5pm to 10pm. Volunteers are asked to arrive in a base layer of stretchy , comfortable black clothing. Make sure you have transportation to and from. You will receive pizza and soft drinks. Go ENG Girl provides an exciting opportunity for girls in grades 7-10 to explore, design, and create through hands-on activities.
