Students with overdue books and fines are asked to go to the Learning Commons after morning announcements. (MP Nov 6)

Why pay $20 for Saunders when you can pay $1 for the Drama Haunted Asylum? Visit the asylum Friday, October 30 during period 1 for the cost of only $1 per student. All money will be donated to the United Way. There is only space for three classes so book your time now.  Available times are 9:10, 9:25 and 9:45. Email Mrs. Rose to confirm a spot. (MR Oct. 28)


REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICES AT MOTHER TERESA CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

There will be two Remembrance Day Services held in the cafeteria gym on November 11th.  The first beginning at 9:00 am for grades 7, 8, 9 and a second at approximately 10:10 am for grades 10, 11, 12.  With the assistance of a committee of staff members, the students have been working diligently to put together a Service that will provide an opportunity for education and reflection.

We are looking for parents/relatives of our students who are members of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP or Emergency Services Workers to attend one or both Services in uniform.  Your presence enhances the importance of this day.  Your son/daughter can either pick up an invitation outside of the school office and bring it home to complete or you may contact Jacqueline Kinloch at 613-823-1663 and leave a voicemail at extension 3053. Attention to all Badminton Players at MT. We are inviting you to join Titan’s Badminton Club every Wednesday morning at 7:30am. NO tryouts or experience required. Feel free to bring friends and all are welcome. See you there. (RB Oct. 30)

The Waupoos Foundation is having an evening of Pop and Gospel music featuring the harmonies of Gracenote and the Andy Duffy Trio along with special guest fiddler Peter Dawson.  This concert will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 174 Wilbrod Street on Saturday, November 14th, 2015, at 8:00pm. 100% of the “free-will offering” will go to the Waupoos Foundation in support of low income families in need! The high needs class is collecting any and all used and dried out markers. Any Kind will do. We will be sorting them and mailing them off to be recycled for  clean energy instead of making more landfill. If you have any markers please deposit them into the marker recycle box outside of room 308. This will be on going until December. Please help us prevent dried out markers from becoming landfill. The Individual Student Reports for students who wrote the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test in March 2015, will be distributed with the midterm report cards on Nov 13th. Parents wishing to pick up these reports prior to report card distribution can do so at the main office. (MC Nov. 13)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Grade 7/8 Photo Club will commence on Wednesday, October 28th.  Please meet in room 339 at 12:40. (HL Oct. 28)

ATTENTION ALL 7-8 Students… Halloween Dance is Friday, October 30th from 1:20 to 2:50 in the Cafeteria Gym.  Cost is $2 per student.  You can pay online or in homeroom up to Tuesday, October 27th Is the Halloween Dance not your thing? Fret not!  The library will be available for alternative activities (e.g., computer time, study hall - maybe you want to get a head start on your homework for the weekend? watch a movie, etc...) Titans Annual Ski Trip:  Hey Titans, this year our annual ski trip will be to Mte St Anne and Massif!! This will happen at the end of February, 2016.  Come out to a meeting on Thursday at lunch in room 203 to get the information you need.  There will only be 16 spots available so come on and get your forms for signing. Debate Club: High school students are invited to attend any or all of the following Debate Club dates.  All meetings are until 4:15 and will take place in Rm 138.

We need a minimum of four debaters to attend each meeting.  The mock debates are a great way to develop thinking and oral skills.  Plus, it's a lot of fun. November 2 resolution: This House would abolish grades and adopt a pass or fail educational system. (JS Dec. 14)

Attention Coop Students interested in doing a coop at Ottawa Police next semester (Starting February 2016) Please see Mrs OSullivan in room 320 or Mr. Francoeur in room 103 to pick up an application form. Interviews will be scheduled on a "first-come, first-served" basis with a maximum of two students candidates submitted per school. All interviews will happen at Ottawa Police Services between Monday, Nov 16 and Thursday November 19. Students must present the following:1. Their completed Student Application form 2.Their resume 3. Two (2) letters of recommendation. Students will also be asked to complete two (2) practical tests on site at Ottawa Police prior to commencing the interview at the designated time. (MO Nov. 19)

High School Varsity Boys Hockey Try-outs will begin the first week of November.  This is full contact OFSAA division hockey, full equipment is required.  Please bring a light and dark jersey with you to the tryout.  Sign-up sheets will be at the rink when you arrive.  Please see Mr. Gervasi in rm. 309 with any questions.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will host a gift wrapping station this December at Place d’Orleans. If interested in volunteering for community service hours, please email events@guidedogs.ca (MP Nov. 6)

LF Volunteers at the Barrhaven Santa Claus Parade on November 22, 2015.  Parade starts at 5:30pm. Hand out candy to crowd, help put up and take down parade decor along parade route.
