WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Please be reminded that Photo Retake Day is Monday, October 19th!

Students with Period 1 spare are reminded to come and sign in at the main office daily upon their arrival. Also, Period 1 spare students who have not yet received their student ID cards may pick them up in the main office. (DD Oct. 30)

Attention to all badminton players at MT. We are inviting you to join Titan’s Badminton Club every Wednesday morning at 7:30am. NO tryouts or experience required. Feel free to bring friends and all are welcome. See you there. (RB Oct. 30)

The Waupoos Foundation is having an evening of Pop and Gospel music featuring the harmonies of Gracenote and the Andy Duffy Trio along with special guest fiddler Peter Dawson.  This concert will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 174 Wilbrod Street on Saturday, November 14th, 2015, at 8:00pm. 100% of the “free-will offering” will go to the Waupoos Foundation in support of low income families in need! The high needs class is collecting any and all used and dried out markers. Any Kind will do. We will be sorting them and mailing them off to be recycled for  clean energy instead of making more landfill. If you have any markers please deposit them into the marker recycle box outside of room 308. This will be on going until December. Please help us prevent dried out markers from becoming landfill. Student Cards Required for Learning Commons Sign-Outs: Now that student cards have been distributed, please be prepared to present yours in order to sign out devices or books in the Learning Commons going forward.  If you have not yet received your card, please remember that your barcode is available in my.mths.ca

The Individual Student Reports for students who wrote the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test in March 2015, will be distributed with the midterm report cards on Nov 13th. Parents wishing to pick up these reports prior to report card distribution can do so at the main office. (MC Nov. 13)

Writing Contest: Short story and personal essay submissions for the Speaker's Award for Youth Writers are now being accepted from September 30th -November 6th.There are awards at all levels: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12.  More information and an on-line application are available at discoveryportal@ontla.on.ca (JS Oct. 16)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS:

ATTENTION ALL 7-8 Students… Halloween Dance is Friday, October 30th from 1:20 to 2:50  in the Cafeteria Gym.  Cost is $2 per student.  You can pay online or in homeroom from Tuesday, October 20th to Tuesday, October 27th. Is the Halloween Dance not your thing? Fret not!  The library will be available for alternative activities (e.g., computer time, study hall - maybe you want to get a head start on your homework for the weekend? watch a movie, etc...) No charge for entry to the library. (EM Oct. 30)

Any grade 7&8 student interested in becoming an Ambassador for this school year, please pick up an application in student services and return by Tuesday, Oct 20th. Ambassadors help out during parent interview nights, open houses, assemblies, kindness week, bullying awareness week as well as other activities throughout the school year. (TC Oct. 20)

Debate Club - Students have expressed interest in starting up the debate club.  If you are interested in bi-weekly meetings after school on Mondays, please sign up on the door of Room 138.  For each meeting, at least four students need to be present to run a mock debate. (JS Oct. 19)

Federal Election Student Vote- Friday, October 16: Grade 9- 12 students will have an opportunity to participate in a student vote on Friday, October 16th. Students will be able to cast a ballot for one of the candidates in our federal riding of Nepean. Please research the platforms and policies of each of the following candidates so you can make an informed decision at the polls!

Go ENG Girl provides an exciting opportunity for girls in grades 7-10 to explore, design, and create through hands-on activities.
