Hey Titans, The Multicultural show is coming up on May 5th. Auditions will be on April 15th, 16th and 17th after school in the Multipurpose room. Sign up sheets will be on the stage door, see you at all the auditions. (MM April 17)

Students with overdue books and fines are asked to go to the Learning Commons after morning announcements. (MP April 16)

SchoolCashOnline: Our adoption rate has been climbing since we launched on October 31, 2014. Thank you to all of the families who have already registered!!  Remember, online payments are quick and easy.  There's no waiting for your cheque to be processed...BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! If you need a refund, they can be done right away without a trip to the bank!!  So, if you haven't registered, check it out at www.mths.ca, click on the schoolcash online link on the left hand side and register today! Don't forget to attach your child to your account so that every time an activity comes up, you will receive an email notification!! LEGO donations: We are looking for donations of LEGO bricks and/or sets for our new grade 7/8 club.

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Red Maple Voting Day is on Friday, April 17th. If you have read at least 5 of the current Red Maple books, you are eligible to vote in Friday's Red Maple Election. Come to the Learning Commons Friday at lunch for our regular scheduled meeting and vote. If you cannot make the meeting, please see Mrs. Bell-Dagenais in the Learning Commons by Tuesday, April 21st. Any grade seven or eight interested in playing Kinball is invited to come to a tryout on Tuesday at 3:00 in the cafeteria gym. (KB April 21)

Any grade seven or eight boy who is interested in trying out for the touch football team, please sign up outside of room 238 by Wednesday the 22nd. (KB April 22)

Grade 7&8 students interested in writing the University of Waterloo Gauss Math Contest please see Mr. Cloutier in room 132 before Friday, April 17. A deposit of $2 (please bring a toonie with you) is required to hold your spot. (AC April 17)

7&8 Swim Team will practice at MINTO Recreation Complex April 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23 from 3:30-4:30pm. All swimmers are reminded to bring their practice permission form to Mlle Pendergest or Mr. Lussier prior to the first practice. (CP & BL  April 23)

Girls Softball: All girls interested in participating in a girls softball tournament in May are asked to come to a planning meeting on Tuesday April 21.  The meeting will take place in room 301 at the beginning of lunch.  If you have any questions, or are not able to make the meeting, please see Mrs. Robinson before Tuesday. Any High School girls interested in trying out for the Varsity Touch Football Team: There are two morning try outs scheduled Tuesday April 7 and Friday April 10 at 7:30 am. and two after school try outs Tuesday April,14 and Thursday April 16 at 3:00 pm. Please be aware that you must attend two try outs to be considered. Please see Mrs. Rennick if you have further questions. All try outs at this point will be indoors. We will be going outdoors once the snow has melted and the field is ready. (JR April 16)

Attention Grade 11 students.  Are you interested in visiting Halifax, Nova Scotia this summer?

Annual Spring Cleaning Bee at Watson’s Mill: Watson’s Mill is looking for energetic volunteers on Saturday, May 2nd from 9:30am to 3:30pm to help clean the Mill in preparation for the upcoming season. Join us for a couple of hours, or stay for the entire day. Please call us at 613-692-6455, or email: manager@watsonsmill.com if you’re interested. The Mill is still cold at this time of year, so please wear warm clothing and appropriate footwear, and if you can bring your work gloves and any extra rakes and brooms and we’ll provide tea and coffee.   See you at the Mill! Canadian Cancer Society: still in need of many volunteers for this upcoming weekend (April 17-19th).  Students can sign up online at www.ottawa.myccsschedule.ca. (KW April 19)

Adopt a Grandparent: For two residents of The Court of Barrhaven at Longfields and Strandherd. 

Any students who are looking for volunteer hours, while doing something good in your own community by simply being a friendly visitor to some people in need. There is a 91 year old gentleman with the start of Alzheimers as well as a 90 year old woman who is legally blind and is wheel chair bound. She sits in a walker and he pushes her everywhere.  Both are in need of some good company.

We are currently looking for new volunteers for our exciting Ottawa Music Expo event taking place during the Music & Beyond festival on July 5, 2015. The volunteer team will assist with workshops, handing out brochures and balloons along the canal to encourage families to attend the Ottawa Music Expo. There will be many volunteer opportunities available including set up and tear down of the event so feel free to contact our volunteer coordinator who will work with you to find a position that you are interested in.Volunteer positions include (but are not limited to)(KW July 5)

Pre-Festival – Pre-festival volunteers help with office-related tasks such as advanced ticket sales and concert preparation.

Usher - Ushers greet patrons, take tickets, and direct people to their seats

Box Office - Box Office volunteers sell tickets at the door, as well as any other merchandise for that particular event.

Stage Crew – The Stage Crew helps move equipment and stage pieces and assists the stage manager as needed for the performance

Summer Jobs and Volunteer Opportunities for Students: Application Deadline for Positions: April 17, 2015

Summer Volunteer Opportunities: Assist with programming, cottage clean-up, laundry, animal care, gardening, weeding, painting, crafts, outdoor games etc. Mondays to Saturdays available. Summer volunteers are encouraged to participate one day per week, for 6 to 8 weeks. Interview and police check required. Must be a minimum of 14 years to apply as a volunteer. (KW April 17)

Need help paying for your college or university education?

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is a mix of grants and loans for students. Through one OSAP application, you have access to this mix of different financial aid programs, depending on your circumstances. You can get OSAP to attend any schools that are approved for OSAP.

An OSAP Presentation will be held on April 24th from 10:45-11:25 in The Learning Commons.Sign up in Student Services by Thursday, April 23rd(TC April 24)

Attention Graduating Students Attending Algonquin College Next Year: You are invited to apply for the Ottawa Senators Foundation Scholarship which is a $1000 entrance scholarship to Algonquin College. Applications are in Student Services. (RB April 17)

DELF B2 Certification:  Any students wising to challenge the DELF B2 exam are asked to obtain a permission form from room 314.  The listening, reading, and writing components of the exam will be held at Mother Teresa H.S. on May 11.  The speaking component will take place on May 12 at the Derry Byrne Teacher Resource Centre (165 Knoxdale Rd).  Students are responsible for their transportation to and from Derry Byrne.  There is a $30 cost, which covers administrative fees charged by the DELF Administrative Center.  Cheques are to be made payable to the Ottawa Catholic School Board.  Each school may send 7 students to challenge the DELF.  The spaces for Mother Teresa H.S. will be assigned on a first come first served basis.  Students will be placed on the list when they bring their completed permission form and check to room 314.
