Remember that lunch passes are available to Grade 8 students on Mondays and Wednesdays, Grade 7 students on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Grade 7 & 8 students on Fridays.

Inside Ride Team Captains: Need to attend an important meeting Thursday at lunch. Committee members will run this info session at both high school and 7-8 lunch. Grade 7-8 teams need to select their team captains and send them to the meeting. (LD Apr.24)

Blood Donor Clinic: There will be a blood donor clinic at Mother Teresa High School (wood floor gym) on Friday, May 9th. You must be a minimum of 17 years old to donate blood.  If you didn't sign up in your homeroom, please see Mrs McLaughin in room 130 to make an appointment. (DM May 9)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

All boys interested in trying out for the 7/8 touch football team are invited to attend a try-out practice on Friday, April 25th, from 3:00-4:00pm.  Please be ready to practice outside. (JD Apr.25)​

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attention students signed up for coop next year! There will be a coop information session period 2 this week on Thursday April 24 in the Learning Commons. Please go to the Learning Commons at the start of period 2. The session will finish at about 11:00 and then students will return to their period 2 class. (MO Apr. 25)

2015 EUROPE TRIP:  Are you interested in travelling to Italy, Greece and Turkey for 13 days in March 2015?  If yes, come to an information meeting Friday April 25^th at the start of lunch in Student Services to find out more details. (EB –Apr 25)

4th Annual Manotick Miler, April 27th in support of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute:

FEMALE CAREERS IN THE TRADES: Any grade 9, 10 or 11 female student interested in learning more about careers in the Trades. Please go to Student Services and sign your name to a Career in Trade Forum sheet. We will accept the first 25 students. VOLUNTEERS – OTTAWA CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL: The Ottawa Children’s Festival is looking for volunteers.  Register online at ottawachildrensfestival.ca. The festival takes place May 9-May 14, 2014, Lebreton Flats Park.  Lots of volunteer positions such as box office and information agent, set up, greeter, site host, site maintenance, traffic control, ushers, 4Cats art studio, face painting, petting zoo, circus workshops and floaters.  Information flyer available in Student Services. THE MS SOCIETY OF CANADA Ottawa Chapter is holding their annual Mandarin MS Walk on Sunday, April 27^th. We are looking to recruit over 200 volunteers to assist in a number of duties during the weekend of the event.  In previous years a majority of our volunteers have been students from in and around the Ottawa area.

EXPLORE is a five-week language-immersion course (spring or summer). Participants live in a student residence on campus or with a homestay family whose members speak French.  Participants in Explore receive a $2,200 bursary that covers tuition fees for the course, meals, accommodations, workshops, but the bursary does not cover other necessary costs such as registration fee ($225 non-refundable and payable only if you receive a bursary), travel costs, optional activities, spending money.  See brochures in Student  Services. GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES:  In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June.  As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:

· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance.  The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by Friday May 23rd, 2014.

• GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Monday June 09, 2014.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (JH –Apr. 30)

GRADUATION INFO: The MT Graduation Ceremony for the class of 2014 will be held at Mother Teresa on Thursday June 26, 2014 (time to be determined). Each student will be given 2 tickets for guests. Students will be able to request extra tickets by signing up in Student Services between May 1^st and May 23^rd. Students will be informed whether they will get extra tickets, in early June.
