Choir Practice and Shirts: Choir practice in Room 119 at lunch on the following dates: Wednesday April 9 and Tuesday April 15. The morning of the performance, the practice is at 8 am in the gym. Shirts should be available next week. With only a logo, the price is 19. 90; personalized costs $25.65 - money needs to be turned in before the performance on April 17th. (SS Apr. 15)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Basketball Referees Needed - Any high school students interested in refereeing the Elementary Basketball Tournaments upcoming at St. Andrews Elementary in April are asked to contact Mr. Liska. Dates are Wednesday, April 16th (Girls) and Wednesday, April 23rd (Boys). (JL Apr. 23)

The Ottawa Chidlren's Festival is looking for volunteers. Register online at ottawachildrensfestival.ca
The festival takes place May 9-May 14, 2014, Lebreton Flats Park. Lots of volunteer positions such as box office and information agent, set up, greeter, site host, site maintenance, traffic control, ushers, 4Cats art studio, face painting, petting zoo, circus workshops and floaters. Adlerian Counselling and Consulting Group located at 1729 Bank Street, Suite 205, is offering two sessions on anxiety. Skills for Self-Management of Anxiety and Worry for 10 to 13 year olds on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 4:30pm - 6:30pm and this Thursday, April 10, from 7pm-9pm Assisting Our Children to Manage Anxiety (for parents). The YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange Program. This is a six-week program for 16 and 17 year old youth. In Ontario, each English-speaking participant is matched with a French-speaking participant from Quebec and the two are hosted in each other's homes to deepen their cultural experience. Youth are also provided with a full-time summer job. During weekends and some evenings, the youth will join their Local Coordinator in group activities. This program is funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage and is offered at minimal cost ($75) to participants. If interested, sign up in Student Services. (KW Apr. 16)
Trent University's Forensic Science Camp this summer is designed for campers ages 13-17 with a keen interest in science. The camp will be held on the Trent University campus in Peterborough. We are organizing an electronic waste recycling day on Friday April 11'th from 12 noon to 7.00 pm and Saturday April 12 from 8.00 am, to 7.00 pm at the Kanata Legion Branch # 638 located at 70 Hines rd. in Kanata. We will donate all proceeds to the Legion. We will be accepting all types of e-waste including computers, keyboards, monitors, televisions, radios, copiers, telephones,...etc...If you are not sure if your item is acceptable, call 613-799-7664, before coming down. The MS Society of Canada Ottawa Chapter is holding their annual Mandarin MS Walk on Sunday, April 27th. We are looking to recruit over 200 volunteers to assist in a number of duties during the weekend of the event. In previous years a majority of our volunteers have been students from in and around the Ottawa area.

Explore is a five-week language-immersion course (spring or summer). Participants live in a student residence on campus or with a homestay family whose members speak French. Participants in Explore receive a $2,200 bursary that covers tuition fees for the course, meals, accommodations, workshops, but the bursary does not cover other necessary costs such as registration fee ($225 non-refundable and payable only if you receive a bursary), travel costs, optional activities, spending money. To be eligible to apply, you must meet all of the following criteria: be a canadian citizen or permanent resident; be at least in Grade 11 during the current school year; have been a full-time student for at least one term during the current school year. You must also be at least 16 years old.
