Wednesday: Popcorn will be sold in the Atrium today. Proceeds will go toward funding tickets to the Red Maple 7/8 Reading Club event at the Sportsplex in May.
Thursday: The Learning Commons will be closed for the OSSLT Testing all day today.
Friday: Animanga (High School Anime Club) - High School Lunch
Red Maple (Grade 7/8 Book Club) - 7/8 Lunch - Guest Presenter is Mr. Raso this week.
Both Grades 7 & 8 Games Clubs are cancelled this week. We will continue again next week.
MT Student Agenda Cover Design Contest: Calling all artists, photographers and media arts students. Applications are now open for any students interested in designing the cover for Mother Teresa’s 2014-15 student agenda.
Entries much be portrait layout, measuring 5.5" x 8.5". Each cover must have the following words: Mother Teresa High School, Student Agenda, 2014-15. The rest is up to you!
All entries will be placed on display in the library at the beginning of April and voting will take place electronically through student’s my.mths accounts for the best cover.

We are organizing an electronic waste recycling day on Friday April 11'th from 12 noon to 7.00 pm and Saturday April 12 from 8.00 am, to 7.00 pm at the Kanata Legion Branch # 638 located at 70 Hines rd. in Kanata. We will donate all proceeds to the Legion. We will be accepting all types of e-waste including computers, keyboards, monitors, televisions, radios, copiers, telephones,...etc...If you are not sure if your item is acceptable, call 613-799-7664, before coming down. We are looking for between 14 and 20 student volunteers for our St. Luke Family Mathnight on Tuesday, April 8th. They will helping students and parents at the various stations we will have set up. The MS Society of Canada Ottawa Chapter is holding their annual Mandarin MS Walk on Sunday, April 27th. We are looking to recruit over 200 volunteers to assist in a number of duties during the weekend of the event. In previous years a majority of our volunteers have been students from in and around the Ottawa area.

The Driver Education Program: Winter 2014 - registration forms are now available in Student Services. Students can register by mailing/dropping off the form to the Continuing Education Department (570 West Hunt Club Road) or by having their parent call 613-228-3338 to register with Visa or MasterCard. Explore is a five-week language-immersion course (spring or summer). Participants live in a student residence on campus or with a homestay family whose members speak French. Participants in Explore receive a $2,200 bursary that covers tuition fees for the course, meals, accommodations, workshops, but the bursary does not cover other necessary costs such as registration fee ($225 non-refundable and payable only if you receive a bursary), travel costs, optional activities, spending money. To be eligible to apply, you must meet all of the following criteria: be a canadian citizen or permanent resident; be at least in Grade 11 during the current school year; have been a full-time student for at least one term during the current school year. You must also be at least 16 years old. We are having our first Annual Prom Fashion Show. It will be April 10, 2014 here at Mother Teresa High School. It is an evening event starting at 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Ticket sales and promotion of this event will be in collaboration with the Grade 11 business class. Please keep this date in mind. This is a fundraising activity that will help support the class of 2014 Prom.
Ticket Sales for this years Prom will be on sale April 1, 2 and 3, 2014. The price of a ticket is $80. You can write a posted check dated no later than April 15, 2014. We accept cash and checks. No debt or credit cards accepted. The venue has standard tables for 6,8, and 10 guest per table. They will allow for some 12 guest tables (NOT MANY). So, please ensure that all the guests at your table are aware of their table number when purchasing a ticket. These tables are on a first come first served bases.
This year we are using technology to help us collate a lot of the Prom data. The ballot for the King/Queen plus court, guest name & info., meal choice, dietary needs, allergies and other information will be done by accessing my.mths.ca site and click on the prom registration information icon. GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES: In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June. As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:
· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance. The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by Friday May 23rd, 2014.
- GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Monday June 09, 2014.
Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (JH Apr. 4)
GRADUATION INFO: The MT Graduation Ceremony for the class of 2014 will be held at Mother Teresa on Thursday June 26, 2014 Time. Each student will be given 2 tickets for guests. Students will be able to request extra tickets by signing up in Student Services between May 1st and May 23rd . Students will be informed whether they will get extra tickets, in early June. YSB Employment Services Youth Job Fair: The 2014 Ottawa Youth Job Fair will be held on Thursday March 20, 2014 from 10 am to 2 pm. This will be held at the Jim Durrell Recreation Centre, in the Ellwood Hall room, at 1264 Walkley Road. Employers on site will be recruiting youth for full time and part time opportunities including summer job placements. (KW Mar. 20)

GRADUATION FEES:
A grad fee of $75 will be collected from each graduate between March 19th - 27th. This fee covers the cost of all activities associated with grad day & commencement (this fee does not cover any costs associated with prom). Students will be measured for their grad gown when they bring a cheque for $75 (made payable to "Mother Teresa High School") to room 130 between March 19th & March 27th. (DM Mar. 27)
