Grade 7-8 Valentine’s Dance: Friday February 14th
Purchase your tickets in homeroom! The last day to purchase your ticket is Wednesday February 12th. Is the Valentine’s Day Dance not your thing? No worries! The library will be available for alternative activities (e.g., computer time, study hall - maybe you want to get a head start on your homework for the weekend?, watch a movie, etc.) No charge for entry to the library. To any high school girl interested in joining the Cheer Squad we are holding open auditions on Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 11 and 13, 2014. Please be prepared to dance, cheer and show your stunting ability. The open auditions will take place in the multi purpose room at 3:15 sharp. To all current Cheer Squad members please see Mrs. Rennick if you can make it to any or all of the auditions. (JR Feb 12)
Debate Club: Debate Team will resume on Mondays after school in Rm 138 starting on February 17. New members ALWAYS welcome! Debate is a great way to develop your oral presentation and critical thinking skills. Plus, it's a lot of fun! See Mrs. Simpson for details. (JS Feb 17)

A non-profit league is being established to provide boys and girls a fun and safe environment to learn flat track roller derby! This is a non-contact sport for kids aged 9-18, using modified rules outlined by the Junior Roller Derby Association. We are eager to recruit girls and boys who want to learn how to play roller derby and have fun!
On Sunday January 26th, an information session will be held at 2pm in the Fencing Room above Norm Fenn Gym at Carleton University. This meeting will answer all your questions about the start up of junior roller derby; including what roller derby is, equipment needs, costs, schedule and more. If you are unable to attend but would like more information, please send an email to: ottawajuniorrollerderby@gmail.com.
Practices will be held most Saturdays from 2:15-4:15pm at Hintonburg Community Centre, located at 1064 Wellington Street West in Ottawa. First practice will be February 15th.

The Driver Education Program: Winter 2014 - registration forms are now available in Student Services. Students can register by mailing/dropping off the form to the Continuing Education Department (570 West Hunt Club Road) or by having their parent call 613-228-3338 to register with Visa or MasterCard. NEED STUDENT VOLUNTEER HOURS! Join the dynamic team putting on Annie-The Board-wide Broadway Musical to help raise funds for the Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa and earn volunteer hours. All funds raised remain in our Catholic Schools to support those who are in most need. Students can earn volunteer hours selling food in a canteen, taking tickets, handing out programs or working backstage at rehearsals and shows. Shows run February 13-16/19-22, 2014. Explore is a five-week language-immersion course (spring or summer). Participants live in a student residence on campus or with a homestay family whose members speak French. Participants in Explore receive a $2,200 bursary that covers tuition fees for the course, meals, accommodations, workshops, but the bursary does not cover other necessary costs such as registration fee ($225 non-refundable and payable only if you receive a bursary), travel costs, optional activities, spending money. To be eligible to apply, you must meet all of the following criteria: be a canadian citizen or permanent resident; be at least in Grade 11 during the current school year; have been a full-time student for at least one term during the current school year. You must also be at least 16 years old.
