MINI-ENRICHMENT: ORIENTATION/INFORMATION SESSIONS – GRADES 8 – 11: Students attending mini-enrichment courses (May 6 - 10) are encouraged to attend the information session being held at the University their course is being offered at. The University of Ottawa's Information session is Saturday May 4th and Carleton University's Information session is Sunday, May 5th. WEDNESDAY MAY 8TH: EDUCATION WEEK OPEN HOUSE: Please come join us beginning at 4:30 to celebrate Education Week at Mother Teresa. We will have department displays, and student performances taking place. As well, you will be able to purchase a fresh made pizza prepared in a wood oven courtesy of Pizza All'Antica. (MR –May 8)
SPIRIT WEEK: Education Week is also a spirit week! Monday is Twin Day - find a friend to match clothing with! Tuesday is G's vs. Gent Day - Gangsters vs. Gentlemen. Wednesday is Nerds vs. Jocks Day. Thursday will be our Multicultural Day where we will be holding a cultural fashion show during our multicultural show. Friday get comfy for PJ/Comfy Day. Remember the dress code is still in effect!! SPRING CLEANING FOR A GOOD CAUSE! The Invinsible Nieghbours of MT are hosting a clothing drive during Catholic Education Week (May 6-10) to raise Money for the Canadian Diabetes Association. Please bring your gently used clothes in bags to the chapel throughout the week and let’s see how big of a pile, and how big of an impact that we can make! (JW –May 10)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
JUNIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: ALL Junior Girls Volleyball Players please return your jersey ASAP to room 320. There is a box on the short filing cabinet that you can drop your jersey in and a sheet that you can sign after returning. Once all jerseys are returned we can see about a game and shirt order. Nothing will be done until this happens. If they are not all in by Friday May 3, 2013 I will send the names to the office and to Mr. Liska for immediate action. Thanks again for the great season. CAPPIES GALA: The Cappies gala is being held at the NAC on June 2nd this year and ticket orders will be taken from now until May 13th. The cost is $25 each, payable when ordering and cheques can be made out to Mother Teresa High School. See Mr. Linke in room 212 to place your ticket order. (RL –May 13)
CHOIR PRACTICE SCHEDULE - Preparation for the last mass of the year. Practice dates are Wednesday May 8th, Tuesday May 14, and Tuesday May 21st. There will be a practice the morning of mass as well. All practices are held in room 119 at lunch. Everyone is encouraged to attend to help make this a spectacular final mass. (SS –May 21)

VOLUNTEER HOURS! THE CN CYCLE FOR CHEO event takes place on Sunday, May 5 which is just a few weeks away! There are approximately 80 route assistant positions still open for students (16 years of age and over) who need their community service hours. Students can register on-line at cncycle.ca and will receive an e-mail response confirming their volunteer position. (KW –May 3)
JAMES BARTLEMAN ABORIGINAL YOUTH CREATIVE WRITING AWARD is open to all Aboriginal young people attending school anywhere in Ontario. Get creative! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT ST. LUKE SCHOOL: An opportunity for volunteers - Thursday May 9th from 6:30-9:30 at st. Luke's. We will be hosting a guest speaker and are looking for 4-5 responsible students to provide childcare while the parents are in the presentation. BERRIGAN E.S.COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Friday May 10 3:30 – 9:30 pm and Saturday May 11 6 am – 2 pm. SUMMER SCHOOL: The Ottawa Catholic School Board Summer School Registration Forms have arrived. Summer school classes run from July 3rd to July 24th. The pre-registration period is from May 1st, 2013 to June 21st, 2013. Students unable to register before this date will have to do so in person on July 2nd from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at all summer school locations. The registration form must be signed by the student, a parent/guardian and a guidance counsellor. (KW –May 15)
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Help needed for the 3rd annual Maria Luisa’s Spring Day for Kids. This event takes place on May 25, from 1 – 4 pm, at the Jack Purcell Community Centre (320 Jack Purcell Lane). GRADE 12 STUDENTS – MARK VERIFICATION: If you have applied to University or College for next year, it is important to log onto OUAC/OCAS to ensure your midterm marks are posted and accurate. Any concerns - see your Guidance Counsellor. (JH –May 3)
HERE ARE THE DATES OF THE UPCOMING PROM COMMITTEE MEETINGS. They will all take place in the Library Seminar Room at lunch. Please attend in order to be heard. This is the final push until the big event.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS: ATTENTION GRADUATES!
- The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association offers a $1000 award called the Sylvester Quinn Memorial Award to a graduate enrolled in a college or university program. It is guaranteed to one graduate in our school but you must apply for it. Applications are available in Student Services. Don't delay! The deadline for submitting a completed application is May 14.
- Attention any graduates who are planning to take a post-secondary program in Design or Architecture. You are invited to apply for an architect’s award valued at $1000. Applications for this award are available in Student Services. (RB –May 10)
GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES: In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June. As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:
· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance. The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by Friday May 10th, 2013.
- GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Monday June 10, 2013.
Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (JH –Sep 30)
GRADUATION CEREMONY TICKETS: Grade 12 students are reminded that each graduate receives 2 guest tickets. Students can request extra tickets by signing up in Student Services between Wednesday May 1st and Friday May 17. No extra tickets can be requested after May 17. Signing up does not guarantee you will receive the number you requested. Students will be informed exactly how many extra tickets they will receive shortly thereafter. (JH –May 17)

HEY EVERYONE!!! INSPIRE 2013: On May 11th, 2013, YouthNet and Shopify will be hosting an unforgettable DJ/Graffiti/mentoring/anything but the kitchen sink experience called #inspire2013. Youth who attend this event will have the opportunity to meet some of Canada’s top DJ’s, join DJ workshops, slam poetry sessions, murals and more! All for FREE!
