clip_image006PENNIES FOR LENT: Did you know that 2500 pennies can provide clean water for one person for life??  During Lent, MT will be collecting  pennies to help people in the developing communities.  In the atrium, students can put their pennies in the Penny Box.  There will be slots for individual homerooms.  So, bring in your pennies and lets see how many people we can provide clean water for!! (Mar 8)

clip_image008PIZZA!  The prom committee will be selling pizza for $2 a slice on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, from now until the end of April. Thank you in advance for your support. There will be NO SALES during Exams (week of 28-Feb.1, 2013). (JR –Apr 30)

clip_image0127/8 BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM TRYOUTS: Tryouts for the Grade 7/8 basketball team begin after school on Tuesday, February 19th 2013 from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM and continue on Friday, February 22nd 2013 from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM. All interested boys must attend these tryouts (NOTE: If the Senior Boys Basketball team wins their playoff game on Thursday night, February 14th 2013 - Tuesday's tryout will be cancelled and Friday will be the only tryout date as the season tips off on Tuesday, March 5th 2013) (MR –Feb 22)

 

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

REACH FOR THE TOP COMPETITIVE TEAM: Students who are part of the competitive Reach for the Top team are asked to attend a meeting AT THE BEGINNING OF LUNCH in room 307 Tuesday, February 19th.  Permission forms will be handed out and a practice schedule. (JS –Feb 19)

clip_image014NEW YORK CITY TRIP: Those students who are going on the NYC trip in May are asked to attend a mandatory meeting Wednesday, February 20th, 2013 at 11:25 AM (start of lunch) in Room 136.  Rooming lists will be selected and other important information will be addressed. If you cannot attend the meeting, see Mr. Rowley for further details. (MR –Feb 20)

clip_image016GRADE 9, 10 AND 11 MATH ENRICHMENT:  We will have our final practice and strategy session on Wednesday February 20th at lunch. The Waterloo Math Contest takes place on Thursday Feb 21 during first period in room 303.  Please see the appropriate teacher if you have any questions. (NR –Feb 20)

REACH FOR THE TOP: The Sign up deadline for the High School Reach for the Top Trivia Tournament has been extended. So far, only 2 teams have registered. If we do not get at least 2 more teams there will be no tournament this year. Anyone interested in signing a team up for the lunchtime trivia challenges, please see Mr. Specht in room 307 for a team sign-up sheet and have it returned by Thursday, February 21st. (JS –Feb 21)

OTTAWA UNIVERSITY APPLICANTS: The University of Ottawa will be holding an information evening on Thursday Feb 21. Presentations on the next stages in the admissions process will be offered in English and in French. In addition, current students and representatives from student services will be on hand to chat about life at uOttawa. clip_image022CHECK OUAC AND/OR OCAS! It is very important for Grade 12 students to log in to OUAC - University Application and/or OCAS - College Application, to verify first semester final marks against your report card. If there are discrepancies, see your Guidance Counselor. (JH –Feb 22)
