clip_image006I MATTER YOU MATTER IS BACK WITH OUR FAMOUS VALENTINE GRAMS, just in time for this romantic season. These chocolate covered strawberries will be sold for 2 dollars per treat, so you let that special someone know how you feel.  All the proceeds go to the heart and stroke foundation! (CD –Feb 12)

GRADE 8 – 11 STUDENTS: Students in grades 8-11 interested in being a part of Elliot Wehrle's musical "Break Before Bend" are asked to meet on the stage Wednesday Feb 13 after school. (JW –Feb 13)

clip_image008SINGING PRACTICE:  Yes, we are starting again. Friday, February 15th in Rm 119 at lunch. Bring your lunch, a water bottle, your enthusiasm and if you have one, a folder for the lyrics. New voices always welcome (grade 7 and 8's - get permission from your teachers!) Possible performance at the end of February. (SS –Feb 15)

clip_image010PIZZA!  The prom committee will be selling pizza for $2 a slice on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, from now until the end of April. Thank you in advance for your support. There will be NO SALES during Exams (week of 28-Feb.1, 2013). (JR –Apr 30)

 

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

WHO'S YOUR MATCH? Matchmaker printouts are in. Come to the atrium, on Tuesday and Wednesday, during high school lunch, and find out who you are most find out who you are most compatible with, your celebrity matches and much more! Support M.T.S.A.I.D and buy your print out for only $2.  All students who purchase their printout will have an opportunity to win an Ipad. (EB –Feb 13)

VARSITY GIRLS FUTSAL: Any girl interested in trying out for the Varsity Girls Futsal Team is asked to meet dressed and ready to play in the wood floor gym on Wednesday, February 13th from 3-4:30pm SHARP!  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to see Ms. McSwiggan. (SM –Feb 13)

clip_image014ATTENTION ALL JUNIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS: Our scheduled has changed. Our first game is Next Tuesday- FEBRUARY 19 at home. On Tuesday, February, 12, 2013 we were going to have a practice and it is Cancelled. Due to Friday's storm the gym is no longer available. We will have a practice Thursday, February 14, 2013 until 4:30 pm. At this time I will issue the uniforms and we will prepare for our home game. It takes place after the family day holiday. Please see Mrs. Rennick if you cannot attend. (JR –Feb 14)

HOCKEY HOODIES: Orders are in for any high school hockey players that ordered a shirt or hoodie.  They can be picked up in room 309. All high school girls' hockey players are asked to return their jerseys ASAP to Mr. Gervasi in room 309. (MG – Feb 15)

clip_image016GRADE 9, 10 AND 11 MATH ENRICHMENT:  We will have our final practice and strategy session on Wednesday February 20th at lunch. The Waterloo Math Contest takes place on Tuesday February 26th during first period in room 303.  Please see the appropriate teacher if you have any questions. (NR –Feb 20)

clip_image022MT SCHOOL LETTER: Every year at the Graduation Mass the MT School Letter is awarded to students who have met the criteria. Students must complete the application which includes teacher signatures from teachers that supervised various activities. Now would be a good time to begin the application process. The application and criteria is found on the Student Services website at ss.mths.ca.  (JH -Feb 15)

OTTAWA UNIVERSITY APPLICANTS: The University of Ottawa will be holding an information evening on Thursday Feb 21. Presentations on the next stages in the admissions process will be offered in English and in French. In addition, current students and representatives from student services will be on hand to chat about life at uOttawa. Did you know…??

 

clip_image033(Mother) Teresa began teaching history and geography in Calcutta at St. Mary’s, a high school for the daughters of the wealthy. She remained there for 15 years and enjoyed the work, but was distressed by the poverty she saw all around her.
