FOR GRADE 7 STUDENTS: Babysitting Program flyers for classes starting the week of January 28, 2013 are available in Student Services for pick up. (KW –Jan 25)

clip_image008BADMINTON TRY-OUTS: Grade 7 & 8 boys and girls interested in playing on the intermediate badminton team are asked to sign up on the list posted on Mlle Pendergest's classroom door - room 236.  Try-outs will be held after school on January 30th and 31st (until 4:30pm).  Bring a racquet, if you have one, and bring your A game! HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

clip_image009HEAR YE, HEAR YE… All students who plan to participate in the Ancient History Field Trip to Toronto, please submit your permission forms and confirm your spot with Mrs. Galbraith in Room 304 as soon as possible.  There are a limited number of spots available so the sooner you submit your form and cheques the better.  That said, not enough participation will mean cancellation.  The deadline to submit the first cheque is Friday February 8, 2013 but permission forms are already being accepted.  Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity. clip_image011HIGH SCHOOL EXAM SCHEDULE NOW AVAILABLE: The HS Exam Schedule is now posted on the Mother Teresa Website.  Extra copies are available in main office and Student Services, for those without access. All students are to return any textbooks or course items back to their teacher by end of semester. In the event that buses are cancelled on one of the exam days, all exams will be bumped to the next day. (MR –Jan 25)

clip_image013REACH FOR THE TOP COMPETITIVE TEAM: Any high school student who is interested in participating in the competitive Reach for the top team is asked to attend a meeting in room 307 Tuesday, February 4th.  (JS –Feb 4)

 REACH FOR THE TOP: The High School Reach for the Top Trivia Tournament is starting again. Anyone interested in signing a team up for the lunchtime trivia challenges, please see Mr. Specht for a team sign-up sheet and have it returned by Wednesday, February 5th. (JS –Feb 5)

clip_image021NIGHT SCHOOL INFORMATION (session February 19th - May 29th) from the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is available in Student Services.  Registration details are as follows:

  • During the day from Monday, January 21st to Tuesday, February 12th at 440 Albert Street from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm

  • Evening registration is at the high school site of your course choice (Adult HS or Merivale HS) on Monday, February 11th (6:00pm -7:30pm), Tuesday, February 12th (6:00 pm - 7:30pm)

  • Registration deadline is February 12th. 

All classes are conditional to sufficient enrolment and are subject to cancellation or transfer to an alternate location. Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. clip_image025GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES:  In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June.  As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa: 

·          PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance.  The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by Friday May 10th, 2013.

  • GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Monday June 10, 2013.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (JH –Jan 25)

ST FX UNIVERSITY, ANTIGONISH, NOVA SCOTIA will be holding an information session:  Sunday Feb 3, 1:00pm – 3:00pm, Dow's Lake Pavillion – Lago Room, 1001 Queen Elizabeth Drive, Ottawa.  This event will serve as an opportunity for individuals to gain important information from our Recruitment Team around admission and scholarships, hear firsthand accounts of the StFX experience from our panel of current students and their parents from the Ottawa area, and take advantage of On-The-Spot Admissions. CSPA, in collaboration with the St. Francis Xavier & the St. Mark Families of Schools, is hosting math workshops for parents of K-12 students. The event will take place at St. Mark High School (1040 Dozois Road, Manotick) on Tuesday, January 29, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.  The workshops will be facilitated by OCSB Educational Consultants.
