REMEMBRANCE DAY: We will be recognizing Remembrance Day on Friday November 9th at Mother Teresa. Any students involved in cadets are encouraged to wear their uniforms to school on Friday November 9th. (JK –Nov 9)
REMEMBRANCE DAY PRAYER SERVICE: As Remembrance Day occurs on Sunday this year, we will not be holding assemblies in the gym, but rather, we will have an extended homeroom Prayer Service over the PA on Friday, Nov 9. To this end, please note the following:
· There will be no oral announcements Friday morning.
· We will begin the day with our Remembrance Day prayer service which will last approx 20 min.
· All students will remain in HR until the end of the service - at which point Grade 7&8 students will move to period 1, while HS students will begin period one (MC –Nov 9)
MT FACTOR! Attention all MT students. Our annual Mother Teresa talent show has arrived! Auditions will run from Monday November 12th to Thursday November 15th. Students from all grades are encouraged to come and try out! Audition signup sheets can be found outside Mrs. Robinson's room (301). The show will be held on Tuesday November 27th. Please come and share your talent with our community! (NR –Nov 15)
BOOK WEEK WRITING CONTEST FOR KIDS & TEENS: Each year the Canadian Children’s Book Centre runs a writing contest for students in Grades 4 to 12. Young writers from across Canada are invited to submit their stories and/or poems to the Book Week 2013 Writing Contest for Kids & Teens. Judging is done by noted writers from across Canada and one winner from each grade will receive a $250 gift certificate for the bookstore of his or her choice. Two honourable mentions from each grade category will also receive $50 gift certificates. The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2013. Entry forms can be picked up in the Learning Commons. 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
GRADE 7-8 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: There will be a 7-8 girls volleyball practice on Monday Nov 5, 2012 and Wednesday Nov 7th, 2012 in the wood floor gym from (3:00-4:00pm). There will also be two away games next week: Tuesday Nov 6th,2012 and Friday Nov 9th, 2012. (JB –Nov 9)
READ-A-THON: On November 22, do you want to wear your pjs, hang out with friends and READ for fun all day in the TLC? Prizes! Pledge forms are available in the TLC. (CHV –Nov 22)

JR. GIRLS BASKETBALL: There is a mandatory meeting for the junior girls basketball team in Room 117 today during lunch. Please see a captain if you cannot attend. (SR –Nov 8)

November 13 - WB A - 3-5:00 (Open Try-out)
November 19 - SPLX 2 - 4-5:30 (Open Try-out)
November 21 - SPLX 1 - 3-4:30 (Final Cuts)
November 26 - SPLX 1 - 3-4:30 (Team Practice)
*** All players trying out must come with full equipment. You must be ready before the Zamboni is off the ice. If you cannot make one of the scheduled try-out dates, you must let Mr. Gervasi (room 309) know 24 hours in advance. GLOBAL JOURNEYS has an information meeting at the Ottawa Public Library, 120 Metcalfe Street, on November 10th, at 11:30 am to talk about their summer and March Break 2013 programs. (KW –Nov 10)
HOUSE OF COMMONS PAGE PROGRAM: Information about the Program is available on the Parliament of Canada Web site and applications must be submitted online at www.parl.gc.ca/hocpage. Deadline for application is Thursday, December 20, 2012. Check the Student Services Bulletin Board in the Atrium for more information. (KW – Nov 15)
DO YOU LIKE CHRISTMAS AND DO YOU LIKE PARADES? Volunteer in Barrhaven's annual Christmas Parade with MP Pierre Poilievre on November 17tth from 11 am to 3 pm (decorating) at the Barrhaven Bridalwood Self Storage, 2775 Moodie Drive, Nepean. The Parade is November 18th from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. Need interested volunteers who want to help create a float for the parade and/or walk along the float and hand out treats to the crowd. emailevents@nepeancarleton.ca with your name, email and phone number. SAINT MARY'S UNIVERSITY STUDENT AND PARENT INFORMATION SESSION. A representative will be offering an information session on Tuesday, November 20th, from 7:00-8:30pm at the Holiday Inn and Suites Kanata-Ottawa. The session is a great opportunity to learn about studying on the East Coast, Saint Mary's University programs, admissions, scholarships and more. (KW –Nov 20)
GRAD PHOTO’S: Grad Photos will take place in our multi-purpose room from Monday, November 19th to Friday, November 23rd. Students are to book their own appointments online. Go to www.bookmygrad.com, select sitting type, date and time, confirm appointment via e-mail. School code is MTH. Pamphlets will be distributed to all graduates and a few will be available in Student Services. Students with a period 1 spare are asked to pick up a pamphlet in Student Services. Students not interested in purchasing a Grad Photo package must still get a Grad Photo taken, at no cost. This photo is used for the Yearbook and Grad Composite which hangs in the atrium. JEANS DAY: A reminder that Friday November 9th is Jeans Day. This week our contributions will go toward support of Movember – Prostate Cancer Research. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. (SD –Nov 9)
