BULLYING AWARENESS WEEK RUNS FROM NOV 12- 16. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO "BE THE CHANGE?"
Here's some ideas:
- All week listen to the daily announcements-you will be given a challenge for the day (example: sit with someone at lunch that usually eats alone-you may have more in common with them than you think)
- Monday: Facebook message your friends the following message " Everyone has the right to be respected and the responsibility to respect others, in person and on-line!" or tweet that same message followed by #bethechange
- Tuesday- Wear titan blue to show your support for Bullying Awareness week and Be The Change!
- Wednesday- Scavenger hunt and information table in the atrium
- Thursday- A draw at end the week for 2 movies passes. Your name will be entered in the draw if MT staff notice that you have made an effort to "Be The Change" (TC –Nov 15)
FIRST AID KIT FUNDRAISER: This is a reminder to ask your family, friends and neighbours if they would like to purchase a first aid kit. The top seller will be included in the fundraiser company’s quarterly draw for a prize and the top selling class will receive a pizza party – all we need to do is sell at least 500 kits! The goal is to sell first aid kits to raise money to purchases needed supplies for the school. (KZ –Nov 15)
MT FACTOR! Attention all MT students. Our annual Mother Teresa talent show has arrived! Auditions will run from Monday November 12th to Thursday November 15th. Students from all grades are encouraged to come and try out! Audition signup sheets can be found outside Mrs. Robinson's room (301). The show will be held on Tuesday November 27th. Please come and share your talent with our community! (NR –Nov 15)
BOOKFACE PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST: Calling all photographers. Do you like to take pictures? Enter the first MTHS BookFace Contest. Check out contest details on the posters around the school or drop by the Learning Commons for more information. Deadline for entries is November 30th. (CHV –Nov 30)
SKI/SNOWBOARD CLUB: Forms are available in the main office, as well as on the MTHS website, under the News & Docs tab. Please return ASAP as the demand is high and space is limited. (KN –Nov 30)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
7/8 TABLE TENNIS: If you are interested in trying out for the 7/8 Table Tennis Team please sign up outside room 231. There will be tryouts Wednesday November 14 and Thursday November 15 after school from 3:00 to 4:15 in the multi purpose room (Rm 131). (BL –Nov 15)
READ-A-THON: On November 22, do you want to wear your pjs, hang out with friends and READ for fun all day in the TLC? Prizes! Pledge forms are available in the TLC. (CHV –Nov 22)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
REPORT CARD DISTRIBUTION: High School Report Cards will be distributed at the end of the day today. Students will be called back to Homeroom near the end of Period 4. Please wait for the announcement before going back to Homeroom. (SD –Nov 15)
SPA DAY this Thursday, November 15th, in Room 112 during Periods 3 & 4. This week the P4 class will offer shellac manis, regular manis and pedicure. Please book in advance with Mrs. Champigny. Thanks for your support! (MC –Nov 15)

CALLING ALL ACTORS/SINGERS/DANCERS! See Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 for information regarding an Audition and Workshop in February for Ottawa area Cappies. You could win a chance to spend a week in New York City working with Broadway professionals! You can't miss this opportunity. (JS –Nov 30)

November 19 - SPLX 2 - 4-5:30 (Open Try-out)
November 21 - SPLX 1 - 3-4:30 (Final Cuts)
November 26 - SPLX 1 - 3-4:30 (Team Practice)
*** All players trying out must come with full equipment. You must be ready before the Zamboni is off the ice. If you cannot make one of the scheduled try-out dates, you must let Mr. Gervasi (room 309) know 24 hours in advance. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY AT CARLETON LODGE: Volunteer students are expected to commit to a minimum of 2 hours per visit. Volunteer services would be performed on a regular schedule. Options are: Saturday, 9:30 am to 11:30, noon or 1:30 to 3:30 pm or 5:00 to 7:00pm; Sunday, 9:30 am to 11:30 noon or 1:30 to 3:30 pm or weekdays 5:30pm - 7:30 pm to assist with meal time. All volunteers must complete an application form, have co-signed by parent, provide 2 letters of reference, obtain a police record check, attend an orientation session for new volunteers at Carleton Lodge. DO YOU LIKE CHRISTMAS AND DO YOU LIKE PARADES? Volunteer in Barrhaven's annual Christmas Parade with MP Pierre Poilievre on November 17tth from 11 am to 3 pm (decorating) at the Barrhaven Bridalwood Self Storage, 2775 Moodie Drive, Nepean. The Parade is November 18th from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. Need interested volunteers who want to help create a float for the parade and/or walk along the float and hand out treats to the crowd. emailevents@nepeancarleton.ca with your name, email and phone number. SAINT MARY'S UNIVERSITY STUDENT AND PARENT INFORMATION SESSION. A representative will be offering an information session on Tuesday, November 20th, from 7:00-8:30pm at the Holiday Inn and Suites Kanata-Ottawa. The session is a great opportunity to learn about studying on the East Coast, Saint Mary's University programs, admissions, scholarships and more. (KW –Nov 20)
GRAD PHOTO’S: Grad Photos will take place in our multi-purpose room from Monday, November 19th to Friday, November 23rd. Students are to book their own appointments online. Go to www.bookmygrad.com, select sitting type, date and time, confirm appointment via e-mail. School code is MTH. Pamphlets will be distributed to all graduates and a few will be available in Student Services. Students with a period 1 spare are asked to pick up a pamphlet in Student Services. Students not interested in purchasing a Grad Photo package must still get a Grad Photo taken, at no cost. This photo is used for the Yearbook and Grad Composite which hangs in the atrium. GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES: In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June. As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:
· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance. The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by Friday May 10th, 2013.
- GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Monday June 10, 2013.
Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Nov 23)

- Nov 22 – High School Interviews. Early Dismissal (1:50 pm) for ALL students. Buses will run at 1:50 pm today.
