School Photo Day today
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
7/8 CROSS COUNTRY TRYOUTS: Grade 7 and 8 students interested in trying-out for the cross-country team are invited to meet Mme Kinloch near the basketball standards behind the school on Wednesday Sept. 12th at 3:00. Please arrive dressed and ready for a 2-3 km run. Bring your things (backpack, change of shoes, etc.) outside with you so you don't need to return into the school. It is recommended that you have a water bottle with you. The try-out should be over by 4:00. You are responsible for organizing your own ride home after the try-out. (JK –Sep 12)
GOLF ANYONE? Any 7/8 student interested in trying out for the 7/8 Golf Team are to sign up outside of Mr. Quinn's phys.ed office either Tuesday Sept. 11 or Wednesday Sept. 12. The only 2 tryouts will take place Wednesday Sept. 12 @ 3 pm in the wood floor gym, and Friday Sept. 14 @ 7:30 am in the wood floor gym. Please ensure that you bring your clubs with you. (TQ –Sep 12)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
LEADERSHIP CAMP PARTICIPANTS: All High school students who have been invited to Leadership camp from Sept 17-19, 2012 and have handed in their forms, please meet in the chapel at 11:30 on Wed. Sept 12th for an important meeting. (TC –Sep 12)
CALLING ALL SINGERS (and there were a lot of you last year in Jesus Christ Superstar!) - we need you! Many voices make the singing easier. So come out to room 205 at lunch next Wednesday Sept 12 and let us hear what you have. If you have any questions please see Ms. Soprovich in room 205. Open to any and all singers. No auditions required. We need male voices!!!! (SS –Sep 12)
HS ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB: Any high school student interested in joining Mother Teresa's environmental team is asked to attend a meeting Wednesday at 11:30 in room 117. Please see Mrs. Ragaisis if you would like to join but are unable to attend. (SR –Sep 12)
CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING: Love to run or interested in joining a team this year? The cross country running team is a great team to get involved in ! All high school students are welcome, no experience necessary. All interested students are asked to come to a mandatory meeting on Thursday September 13th at 11:30 in Room 208. PEER HELPERS: Attention all high school students who have signed up for and those who would like to become a PEER HELPER. you are asked to come to an important meeting on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 11:30am in room 302. Please bring your lunch. (MB –Sep 14)

OVERSEAS ENRICHMENT: Any student interested in participating in the Overseas Enrichment Trip to Italy, South of France and Spain in March 2013 is asked to to pick up an information package from Ms. Stuart in Room 102 or Ms. Pierce in Student Services. (MP –Sep 17)
OPEN GYM BASKETBALL NIGHTS for Boys in Grades 9 - 12 will be held on Monday, September 10th, and 17th 2012 from 6 PM - 9 PM (open to ONLY MT High School students). If you have any other questions see Mr. Rowley in room 136. (MR –Sep 17)
WORLD YOUTH DAY 2013 INTEREST MEETING: The Archdiocese of Ottawa is bringing a group of Young Adults (18-35) to World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, July 17 – 31, 2013. “Interest Meeting” on Thurs. NIGHT SCHOOL INFO: The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is offering its 2012 Fall Night School Program from September 17th to December 13th at the Adult High School (300 Rochester Street) and Merivale High School. You may sign up for night school, but must maintain full-time status at day school. Registration can be done during the day from Tuesday, September 4th to Wednesday, September 12th at Albert Street Education Centre, 440 Albert Street from 9 am to 3:30pm. Evening registration is at the school offering the course choice on Tuesday, September 11th (6pm to 7:30pm) and Wednesday, September 12th (6pm to 7:30pm). Registration deadline is Wednesday, September 12th. Registration forms are now available in Student Services and must be approved by your counsellor. (KW –Sep 12)

JOSTENS is back to our school on Wednesday, September 26th, Thursday, September 27th, Friday, September 28th, during senior lunch in the atrium, in front of Student Services. OFFICER’S NOTES – News and Information from our School Resource Officer
GET TO KNOW YOUR SRO… The School Resource Officer Program has been in effect in Ottawa Schools for over 17 years and was established for officers to provide support for school staff, students and parents. SRO’s may be involved in delivering lectures on various topics as well as dealing with incidents which take place at school during school hours or those that have an effect on the overall school environment. When an SRO becomes involved in dealing with an incident it may result in a conversation, mediation or a referral to an intervention or diversion program, or a charge. The School Resource Officer mandate is to build healthy, trusting relationships with youth of all ages by becoming a familiar presence in their schools.
