WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
LOCKS FOR LOCKERS: Students are reminded that only combination locks are acceptable for use at Mother Teresa High School. If you change your lock during the course of this school year, please notify the main office of your new combination. In addition, students are to occupy only the locker assigned to them by their homeroom teacher. Unauthorized occupation of another locker will result in your lock being cut and all contents of the locker removed. (KL –Sep 7)

GRADE 7/8 LIBRARY/LEARNING COMMONS LUNCH PASSES: Students can pick up daily lunch passes in the Library/Learning Commons each morning before school starts. (CHV –Sep 7)
ULTIMATE FRISBEE TRY OUTS Friday & Monday 2:55 PM - 4:00 PM. Grade 7 & 8 girls and boys welcome. This is a co-ed team. (TF –Sep 10)
GRADE 7 HONK’N’BLOW: Mother Teresa's annual Honk'n'Blow is Wednesday September 12th from 6 to 8pm. Come try all the instruments to see which one best suits you. Saxophones, trumpets, clarinets and more!!! For any questions, see Mr Card in Room 120. (IC –Sep 11)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
TENNIS: All those high school students interested in competing on the Tennis team should come to a brief meeting in Room 203 on Friday September 7th at 11:30. If you cannot attend the meeting, please see Mr Miller in room 203. (RM –Sep 7)
OUTDOOR CLUB: There will be a meeting in room 103 Friday September 7 at 11:45 am for all high school student interested in joining the Outdoor Club. We will also talk about our first camping trip outing coming soon. (MF –Sep 7)
NEW YORK CITY TRIP: Any Grade 11 or 12 student interested in going on the New York City 2013 trip are asked to attend a meeting at lunch on Friday, September 7th 2012 (11:30 AM) in Room 136. If you have any questions see Mr. Rowley in room 136. (MR –Sep 7)
CALLING ALL SINGERS (and there were a lot of you last year in Jesus Christ Superstar!) - we need you! Many voices make the singing easier. So come out to room 205 at lunch next Wednesday Sept 12 and let us hear what you have. If you have any questions please see Ms. Soprovich in room 205. Open to any and all singers. WORLD YOUTH DAY 2013 INTEREST MEETING: The Archdiocese of Ottawa is bringing a group of Young Adults (18-35) to World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, July 17 – 31, 2013. “Interest Meeting” on Thurs. STUDENT SERVICES
STUDENT TUTORS: Student tutors work with other students on homework, preparing for evaluations and reviewing the material taught in class. Tutors can work for community service hours or earn $10 per hour. If you are interested in being a tutor this year, please stop by Student Services to pick up an application form. (MP –Sep 7)
$$$ TUTOR NEEDED FOR THE 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR. Looking for a Grade 12 female student to tutor a 19 year old young lady with special needs. Must be reliable and mature, possess patience and demonstrate responsibility and do well in Math and English. This employment opportunity would involve working 2 evenings a week for one and a half hours each evening. It would involve tutoring in Math and English, it would also involve teaching organization and study skills. The pay would be $11 per hour to start and the location is in Barrhaven. GRADE 11 AND GRADE 12 VOLUNTEERS are needed for Grade 2 Sacrament Meeting at St. Joseph HS (tile floor gym) on Saturday, September 22nd from 3:30pm to approximately 8:30 pm. A variety of tasks to be performed. Training will be provided during the school lunch break on Tuesday, September 18th. COURSE CHANGES: Students requiring course changes are asked to drop by Student Services in between classes or at lunch to book an appointment with their counselor. Do not sit and wait in Student Services as you will not be seen without an appointment. Please continue to go to the classes on your schedule, until your course changes have been made. Last date for course changes is Tuesday September 11th at end of day. (JH –Sep 11)
LEADERSHIP CAMP PARTICIPANTS: All High school students who have been invited to Leadership camp from Sept 17-19, 2012 and have handed in their forms, please meet in the chapel at 11:30 on Wed. Sept 12th for an important meeting. (TC –Sep 12)
NIGHT SCHOOL INFO: The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is offering its 2012 Fall Night School Program from September 17th to December 13th at the Adult High School (300 Rochester Street) and Merivale High School. You may sign up for night school, but must maintain full-time status at day school. Registration can be done during the day from Tuesday, September 4th to Wednesday, September 12th at Albert Street Education Centre, 440 Albert Street from 9 am to 3:30pm. Evening registration is at the school offering the course choice on Tuesday, September 11th (6pm to 7:30pm) and Wednesday, September 12th (6pm to 7:30pm). Registration deadline is Wednesday, September 12th. Registration forms are now available in Student Services and must be approved by your counsellor. (KW –Sep 12)

VOICEMAIL: Every staff member is provided with a Voicemail box to collect phone messages. If you have not already done so, please set up your voicemail so that it will properly reflect as your voicemail box. (Instructions can be found in your mailbox). Please make sure to check your voicemail box often, to pick up those messages, so you may respond to them in a timely manner. If you have any questions, please contact the main office for help. OFFICER’S NOTES – News and Information from our School Resource Officer
GET TO KNOW YOUR SRO… The School Resource Officer Program has been in effect in Ottawa Schools for over 17 years and was established for officers to provide support for school staff, students and parents. SRO’s may be involved in delivering lectures on various topics as well as dealing with incidents which take place at school during school hours or those that have an effect on the overall school environment. When an SRO becomes involved in dealing with an incident it may result in a conversation, mediation or a referral to an intervention or diversion program, or a charge. The School Resource Officer mandate is to build healthy, trusting relationships with youth of all ages by becoming a familiar presence in their schools.
