clip_image004SKI/SNOWBOARD CLUB:  The season has been delayed a week and will now start on Wed. Jan 25th. The remaining dates will be Feb. 8, 15, 22, 29 and March 7. Buses will depart at 3pm sharp, and return at approximately 9 pm.  The bus list is posted. Ski/snowboard equipment should be placed in the wood shed in the compound on the west side of the school, by 8:30 am. (KN –Jan 26)

 

SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS: Check out the January TEENRC flyer at www.scholastic.ca/clubs.  Order forms are available in the TLC and are due Tuesday, January 24. Make cheque payable to Mother Teresa High School. (CHV –Jan 24)

clip_image012BIOLOGY FIELD TRIP – SEPT 2012: Would you be interested in dissecting starfish? Whale watching? Working on a research vessel? Are you thinking of taking Biology or Environmental Science in Grade 11 or 12? If this sounds interesting to you, please come see Ms.Soprovich in Room 205 before school or at lunch this week to pick up a letter about the Biology Field Trip to the Huntsman Marine Science Centre in New Brunswick in September 2012. clip_image014H.S. REACH FOR THE TOP: It Begins! The first game of the season will be on Monday, January 23 between The Raging Rhinos and The Bananas. The second game will be Wednesday, January 25th with Jai Ho challenging The Flying Taco Mujppet Riders. The games start at 11:40 in room 307. Spectators welcome. (JS –Jan 23)

clip_image016VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER: ANY grade 9-12 girl interested in playing for the Mother Teresa High School Varsity Girls Soccer Team  are ask to practice with the team on the following dates... January, 26th, February 1st, 8th, 16th and 23rd. Pleased be dressed and ready to practice from 3-4:30 pm in the woodfloor gym.  If you are unable to attend or have any questions, please see Ms. McSwiggan. (SM –Feb 23)

clip_image020NIGHT SCHOOL - WINTER 2012 (FEBRUARY 21ST TO MAY 30TH) from the Ottawa-Carleton Public School Board. Registration during the day is from Monday, January 23rd to Tuesday, February 14th at 440 Albert Street from 9:00 am to 3:30pm.  Evening registration is at the high school of your course’s choice (Adult High School or Merivale HS) on Monday, February 13th (6pm-7:30pm) and Tuesday, February 14th (6pm-7:30pm). Early registration is recommended as space is limited.  Registration forms are available in Student Services. These forms require a signature from a parent/guardian, the student and a counsellor from our school.  Once the form is completed, the original is returned to the student to take to the registration site of his/her choice for processing. clip_image022THE VICTORIA QUILTS CLUB WILL NOW BE MEETING on Thursdays in the library from 3:00 pm to 4:30pm.  Come and have fun with a needle and thread and tie knots.  It's that simple!  No experience necessary.Earn community service hours at the same time.   New members (guys or gals) are invited to join.  The more the merrier and the more quilts we can complete and help out a great cause.  See Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services for more information. clip_image024STUDY AND GO ABROAD is returning to Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto for the Spring 2012 fair circuit.  Come met directly with universities and colleges from around the world as well as with organizations offering internships, volunteer programs, work abroad, and adventure and language travel.  Admission to the fair is free and visitors can register on the day or pre-register online at www.studyandgoabroad.com.  Come see the pamphlet in Student Services for more information. clip_image026IT'S HERE!  DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM REGISTRATION FORM!  Visit your Student Services Office for registration forms. Registration runs from January 16th - February 17th.  In-class lessons will be Wednesdays at Mother Teresa High School for 8 weeks starting February 29th from 3:15pm - 6:00pm.  Students must bring a copy (front and back) of their G1 to the first calss, plus a copy of the MTO Driver's Handbook.  This Driver's Ed program combines in-class, at-home and in-car instruction.  Successful completion of this program allows a reduction of the G1 license driving period and a possible insurance discount (check with your insurance company). clip_image030GRADUATION INFO:  The MT Graduation Ceremony for the class of 2012 will be held at Mother Teresa on Thursday June 28 at 1:00 pm. Each student will be given 2 tickets for guests. Students will be able to request extra tickets starting in May and will be informed whether they will get extra tickets, in early June. (JH –Jan 20)

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS: Wednesday Feb 1 is the deadline to apply to Ontario Colleges. The application is done on-line at www.ontariocolleges.ca. All grade 12's have received an information page with the steps to apply. If you have misplaced yours visit the Student Services website at ss.mths.ca click on Grade 12 Information -> College Info to download one. See your Counsellor if you have any questions.
