WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY: This is a reminder for all the students involved with the Remembrance Day ceremony this Friday. The Rehearsal will be on Thursday, November 10th at 3:00 pm on the stage. Please be on time. (KM –Nov 10)

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DAYS - BASIC POWER YOGA: One Month Yoga session Nov 10^th to Dec 1^st. Every Thursday 3:00-4:00 PM, in the Dance Studio. Have fun playing around with over 600 poses as you build strength, tone your muscles, decrease stress, increase flexibility, and work on your balance. Email: julierollwagen@rogers.com to register before November 10th. Leave your name, email and phone number. Minimum of 10 students required for session to run. Cost is $25.00 for 4 classes. 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

DANCE CLUB CANCELLED: The Grade 7/8 Dance Club has is now canceled for today, Tuesday November 8! I apologize for the inconvenience and we will resume as per usual next Tuesday from 3-4pm! (CK –Nov 8)

MOTHER TERESA COMEDY CLUB: Do you want to be the next best stand-up comedian? Do you have hidden talents that you want to show off? LOOK NO FURTHER THAN THE M.T. COMEDY CLUB! NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! Sign-up sheet is in Student Services. Auditions are Thursday November 10^th and Friday November 11^th in Room 230 @ Lunch (bring your lunch). Requirements: Must participate in at least 2 Improv Games. (MP –Nov 10)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

HAIRSTYLING: There will be a meeting Wednesday, November 9 for anyone interested in helping with the Hair and Makeup for the school play. The meeting will be in room 112 at the beginning of lunch. (EB – Nov 9)

M.T.S.A.I.D: There will be an important MTSAID meeting this Thursday at the beginning of lunch in room 209. (MK –Nov 10)

MANGA CLUB: Meets Friday, November 11 at lunch in Rm 138. (JS –Nov 11)

STUDENT SERVICES

RINGETTE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Student Volunteers Needed for the Nepean Ringette Association at its 24^th annual tournament November 17-20^th. Contact Jessica Crouch at 613-769-3405 for more details or to volunteer. (KW-Nov 11)

FRENCH TUTOR NEEDED: LF a French tutor, once a week, from 6pm – 7pm, for a female Grade 5 student from St. Andrew School. Please leave a message at 613-440-0455. (KW – Nov 11)

Y VOLUNTEER OTTAWA CONTEST: Take a picture, create a video, write a poem, paint, sing, dance...anything that answers the question "Why Volunteer?" Enter the contest to win great prizes. Entrants must be between 16 and 24 years of age. Entrants should live in or be from the Ottawa area. Entries must be in either French or English. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE: Ontario is holding an information meeting for interested students and parents on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 7:30pm at the Ottawa Carleton District School Board Lecture Hall at 440 Albert Street. (parking is available with access from Laurier or Slater) A representative will be present to provide information and answer questions. Please visit www.iseontario.on.ca for details about programs. GRADE 12’s / GRADS

GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES: In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June. As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:

· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance. The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by Friday May 11^th, 2012.

GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 11, 2012.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Nov 11)

STAFF NOTES

ALL STAFF WELCOME: Dr. Suzanne Simond, Psychologist with the Ottawa Anxiety and Trauma Clinic, will meet with interested staff for a presentation on Healing After a Trauma on Monday, November 14th, at 3:30 PM in the library. (MP –Nov 11)

THE MOTHER TERESA SCHOOL COMMUNITY INVITES YOU AND YOUR FAMILY to an evening with Dr. Suzanne Simond, Psychologist with the Ottawa Anxiety and Trauma Clinic, for a presentation on Healing After a Trauma. Topics to be covered: What is the normal coping process after a trauma? What is the process of healing over time? What are effective coping strategies? What are warning signs and symptoms of difficulty coping? What does Post Traumatic Stress Disorder look like? When is it time to seek help?
