clip_image002WORLD HUNGER WEEK AT MOTHER TERESA: During both lunches Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (Oct 17-19), come to the atrium and sign the letters of concern that we will be sending to the Government of Canada regarding Canada's role in reducing world hunger. Watch out for the S.A.A.E. Team and sign the letters! (MD –Oct 19)

clip_image004LET'S CHAT YOUTH CAFÉ: Be heard. Have your say. The Ottawa Police Service and the Ottawa Police Services Board are hosting a Let's Chat Youth Café because it's their turn to listen! Come join a real police-youth conversation and explore the issues that matter to you and your friends in small group table chats. You'll eat free food and maybe even win an iPod or Sens tickets! 7/8 INTRAMURAL SPECTATORS:  Starting on Tuesday, there will be a sign up sheet posted outside the Phys Ed offices, for anyone wishing to be a spectator at the lunchtime intramurals.  The list will be posted at 8:15 and taken down at 8:30 every day.  The first 30 people to sign up will be admitted into the gym to watch.  If your name is not on the list, you will not be allowed in.  You may only sign yourself up, and cannot sign up a group of friends.  We are limiting the amount of spectators due to safety concerns of having over a hundred spectators, and having too many instances of garbage being left behind.  Players who play on any given day do not need to sign up, but still need to be present, in the gym, by the beginning of the first game (12:40). STAND UP TO BULLYING: Just a reminder that there will be a Stand Up to Bullying meeting today-Monday, Oct 17th in room 112 at lunch. (TC –Oct 17)

clip_image020CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING: There will be an important meeting on Monday Oct 17th at the start of lunch in room 208. All runners planning to attend the meet next week must attend. Runs this week will be after school everyday at 3:15 and mornings on Tues, Wed, and Thursday at 7:30. Reminder that you must have completed 10 runs in order to compete in the meet next week. Volunteer tab to search for Volunteer opportunities.  There are numerous volunteer opportunities during the school year.  At times, there are too many to post in the written announcements. clip_image039YORK UNIVERSITY NEWS:  Project ADVANCE is a 6-week summer institute which prepares students with specific learning disabilities for success in their university studies.  This initiative is offered through the Learning Disabilities program at York University and is funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Government of Ontario.  Project ADVANCE is scheduled from Tuesday, July 3rd - Thursday, August 9, 2012.  The program will operate from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday at the Keele Campus of York University, Toronto. Application package can be found on line at http://www.yorku.ca/cds/lds/project_advance_request_form.php.  A $200 refundable registration fee is required. (KW –Oct 21)

LOYALIST COLLEGE OPEN HOUSE:  Loyalist College have their Fall Open House and College Information Program on Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. (KW –Oct 21)

clip_image041GRADUATION INFO:  The MT Graduation Ceremony for the class of 2012 will be held at Mother Teresa on Thursday June 28 at 1:00 pm. Each student will be given 2 tickets for guests. Students will be able to request extra tickets starting in May and will be informed whether they will get extra tickets, in early June. (JH –Oct 21)

 

UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO:  Fall Campus Days are the open house events of the year.  U of T St. George is Saturday, October 29th; U of T Mississauga is Sunday, October 30th and U of T Scarborough is Saturday, November 19th. (KW – Oct 28)
