WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
SIREN: We will be continuing with our SIREN (Stop Immediately Read Everything Now) literacy initiative this year. Please encourage your student to bring a novel, magazine, newspaper - anything they would like to read for pleasure as they will be afforded time in classes to read. (MC –Sep 9)
LOCKS FOR LOCKERS: Students are reminded that only combination locks are acceptable for use at Mother Teresa High School. If you change your lock during the course of this school year, please notify the main office of your new combination. In addition, students are to occupy only the locker assigned to them by their homeroom teacher. Unauthorized occupation of another locker will result in your lock being cut and all contents of the locker removed. (KL –Sep 9)
RICHARD SCARSBROOK – AUTHOR, TEACHER, ENTERTAINER: Richard Scarsbrook will be in the MT Learning Commons (Library) next week on Tuesday, September 13 from 10:15 -11:30. LIBRARY/TITANS LEARNING COMMONS LUNCH PASSES:
- Drop by the Library/Learning Commons (TLC) on the second floor before homeroom to pick up a pass for lunch.
- Did you know that the library/TLC is open to all students, including Grade 7 and 8, before school starts? A pass is not needed. Drop by to use a computer, read, do your homework, meet a friend, listen to music etc. (CHV –Sep 9)
REACH FOR THE TOP IS BACK!!!!! Brush away all those summer cobwebs with the quiz game called REACH FOR THE TOP!!! Bring your lunch to Room 235 on Thursday, September 15 at the beginning of 7/8 lunch and participate!!! (TC – Sep 15)

QUALIFY TO BE A VOLLEYBALL REFEREE: Any person interesting in obtaining their volleyball referee's qualification Level 1 is invited to register for the Ottawa Clinic on Sept 20 and 21st (6 - 10 pm) for theory and Sept 23 (2:30 - 9 pm) & Sept 24 (8 am - 6 pm) for practical. The clinics are held at Old St. Patrick Street, Ottawa. For more information, please go to the Ottawa Volleyball Association website. (SS –Sep 9)

GIRLS HOCKEY – PRACTICE AND TRYOUT SCHEDULE: Please be ready to go once the Zamboni is off the ice. Full equipment is mandatory (including mouth guards) and water bottles are your own responsibility. STUDENT SERVICES
COURSE CHANGES: Students requiring course changes are asked to drop by Student Services in between classes or at lunch to book an appointment with their counselor. Do not sit and wait in Student Services as you will not be seen without an appointment. (JH –Sep 9)
LOOKING FOR: Before school supervision for two children, aged 8 and 10. Responsibility includes staying in the house with the children and ensuring they board the school bus from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am - 8:50 am. SCHOOL RINGS: A representative from Jostens Rings will be here on Monday, September 19th and Tuesday, September 20th during senior lunch time. Come and see the beautiful collection of rings. Booklets will be available in Student Services for pick up. Now is the time to start thinking about school rings, not just grad rings. (KW –Sep 20)
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HARVEST DINNER: Volunteers are needed for Harvest Dinner at St. Patrick’s Parish, on Sunday, September 25th from 3pm to 8pm. Choose a shift of at least 2 1/2 hours. You will help with serving pie, resetting tables for the 2nd sitting just to list a few tasks. You will not be alone; you will be placed with an adult. QUILTS! We have a unique opportunity for students to earn their volunteer hours right here at our school! Victoria’s Quilts Canada is a non-profit organization making quilts for people with Cancer living anywhere in Canada. Demand for these quilts has increased dramatically in the past few years. Victoria’s Quilts is looking for students. Both boys and girls can help to tie and finish the quilts. Sewing skills are not required. Please sign up in Student Services. (KW –Sep 30)
- Saturday September 17, Richmond Parade, starts at South Carleton High School in Richmond. We need volunteers to arrive before 10:30 at the front of the school where Pierre Poilievre and his volunteers will be lined up for the parade that leaves at 11:00 am. We need students to help hand out candy while in the parade with Pierre, who will be in a black Camero Convertible.
- The next event is to help hand out balloons at the Metcalfe Fair on Saturday October 1 and Sunday October 2.

VOICEMAIL: Every staff member is provided with a Voicemail box to collect phone messages. If you have not already done so, please set up your voicemail so that it will properly reflect as your voicemail box. (Instructions can be found in your mailbox). Please make sure to check your voicemail box often, to pick up those messages, so you may respond to them in a timely manner. If you have any questions, please contact the main office for help.
