RICHARD SCARSBROOK – AUTHOR, TEACHER, ENTERTAINER: Richard Scarsbrook will be in the MT Learning Commons (Library) next week on Tuesday, September 13 from 10:15 -11:30. His most recent book, The Monkeyface Chronicles, won the Ontario Library Association White Pine award in May. Please check out his website below. HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
JUNIOR BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS Tryouts will be on Thursday, September 8th, and Monday, September 12th after school at 3 PM. If you have any questions see Mr. Rowley in room 136. (MR –Sep 12)
BOYS BASKETBALL: All boys interested in playing High School basketball this year are invited to the OPEN GYM nights - every Monday night from 7 PM - 9 PM beginning this Monday night September 12th. If you have any questions see Mr. Rowley in room 136. (MR –Sep 12)
LEADERSHIP CAMP: All high school students who are registered to participate in leadership camp, please attend a meeting in the chapel at the beginning of lunch on Wed. Sept. 14th. (TC –Sep 14)
LONDON, ENGLAND TRIP – MARCH 2012: Please see Mrs. Simpson (Rm 138) by Sept. 16th if you are interested in a fabulous March Break trip to London. Pick up letter of permission, itinerary and payment information. (JS –Sep 16)
GIRLS HOCKEY – PRACTICE AND TRYOUT SCHEDULE: Please be ready to go once the Zamboni is off the ice. Full equipment is mandatory (including mouth guards) and water bottles are your own responsibility. Anyone who needs to leave early must let the coaches know ahead of time. Transportation (practice/try-outs) to and from the arena is your responsibility. (MG -Sep 16)

STUDENT SERVICES
LOOKING FOR: Before school supervision for two children, aged 8 and 10. Responsibility includes staying in the house with the children and ensuring they board the school bus from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am - 8:50 am. Location: Woodpark Way (near St. Luke elementary school). Suitable for a responsible teenager with a spare first, or an adult. Please contact Blair at 613 878-1569. (KW –Sep 14)
TUTORS NEEDED: We are looking for student tutors. Earn community service hours or get paid $10/per hour. Tutors are required primarily in the math, science and English areas. Stop by Student Services to pick up an application form. (MP –Sep 16)
SCHOOL RINGS: A representative from Jostens Rings will be here on Monday, September 19th and Tuesday, September 20th during senior lunch time. Come and see the beautiful collection of rings. Booklets will be available in Student Services for pick up. Now is the time to start thinking about school rings, not just grad rings. (KW –Sep 20)
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HARVEST DINNER: Volunteers are needed for Harvest Dinner at St. Patrick’s Parish, on Sunday, September 25th from 3pm to 8pm. Choose a shift of at least 2 1/2 hours. You will help with serving pie, resetting tables for the 2nd sitting just to list a few tasks. You will not be alone; you will be placed with an adult. QUILTS! We have a unique opportunity for students to earn their volunteer hours right here at our school! Victoria’s Quilts Canada is a non-profit organization making quilts for people with Cancer living anywhere in Canada. Demand for these quilts has increased dramatically in the past few years. Victoria’s Quilts is looking for students. Both boys and girls can help to tie and finish the quilts. Sewing skills are not required. Please sign up in Student Services. (KW –Sep 30)
- Saturday September 17, Richmond Parade, starts at South Carleton High School in Richmond. We need volunteers to arrive before 10:30 at the front of the school where Pierre Poilievre and his volunteers will be lined up for the parade that leaves at 11:00 am. We need students to help hand out candy while in the parade with Pierre, who will be in a black Camero Convertible.
- The next event is to help hand out balloons at the Metcalfe Fair on Saturday October 1 and Sunday October 2.
