It is all about sequels including:  Forever - the final book in the Shiver Trilogy;  The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore is the sequel to I Am Number Four;   pre-order Diary of a Wimpy kid #6;  Torn by Margaret Peterson; Haddix is the fourth book in The Missing Series;  Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter.  Order forms are available in the library/learning commons and orders are due Friday, September 30.   (Make cheques out to Mother Teresa High School). clip_image0067/8 RUGBY: Any grade 7/8 boy or girl interested in trying out for the girl's or boy's flag rugby team should sign up outside Mr.Quinn/Mr. Nicoletti's office.  First and Second tryout will be on Tuesday Sept. 27, and Wednesday Sept. 28th. (TQ –Sep 28)

 

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

STAND UP TO BULLYING SQUAD: Just a reminder of the Stand Up To Bullying meeting on Monday, Sept 26th at lunch. We will now be meeting in room 112. (TC –Sep 26)

HIGH SCHOOL INTRAMURALS SIGN UP:  Intramurals are getting under way and sign ups are beginning for Co-ed Volleyball. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board outside the wood floor gym.  Sheets are to be returned to Mr. Liska by Tuesday, Sept. 27th. (JL –Sep 27)

SR. BOYS VOLLEYBALL:  There is an away game on Monday September 26 and we are travelling to Notre Dame.  A practice on Wednesday, September 28 after school in the wood floor gym and an away game on Thursday, September 29 travelling to Holy Trinity!  Go Titans Go!  Remember your JERSEYS and your permission forms! clip_image008LONDON 2012:  Students planning to go on the London, England trip in March of 2012 are asked to come to a short meeting at lunch on Wednesday, September 28 in Rm 138. (JS –Sep 28)

M.T.S.A.I.D (MOTHER TERESA STUDENTS AGAINST IMPAIRED DRIVING): Do you want to gain leadership experience while raising awareness about an important cause that affects too many youth? Then please join us for a brief meeting in room 209 on Wednesday September 28th at the beginning of lunch. New members welcome. (MK –Sep 28)

  • Junior Boys Basketball Team Tryouts begin Monday night, September 26th from 6:00 - 7:30 PM in the wood floor gym and continue on Tuesday, September 27th and Friday, September 30th at 3:00 - 4:30 PM.  Please see Mr. Rowley if you have any questions or concerns in room 136.
  • Senior Boys Basketball Team Tryouts begin Monday night, September 26th from 7:30 - 9:00 PM in the wood floor gym and continue tentatively on Friday, September 30th at 4:30 - 6:00 PM (depending on football team schedule).  Please see Mr. Rowley if you have any questions or concerns in room 136. clip_image014WRITING CONTESTS: Please see Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 for information regarding TWO writing contests: Remembrance Day Literary Contest and the Poetry Contest run by Young Writers of Canada. (JS –Sep 30)

clip_image016NEW YORK CITY 2012: Students who took information packages and permission forms are reminded to return the permission form and the deposit by September 30 at the latest.  This is a very strict timeline.  48 students are needed to run the trip. (JS –Sep 30)

OTTAWA POLICE VENTURERS RECRUITMENT INFORMATION NIGHT is Wednesday, September 28th, 2011 from 7 pm – 8 pm at 101 Centrepointe Drive, Ottawa.  Ben Franklin Place (Chambers).  If you are 14 to 18 years of age and attending a secondary school and interested in learning more about policing, being part of a dynamic team and helping your community, then you should consider joining the Ottawa Police Venturers.  For more information about the program, visit ottawapolice.ca or call 613 236-1222 ext. 6034. clip_image022QUILTS! We have a unique opportunity for students to earn their volunteer hours right here at our school!

Victoria’s Quilts Canada is a non-profit organization making quilts for people with Cancer living anywhere in Canada. Demand for these quilts has increased dramatically in the past few years. Victoria’s Quilts is looking for students.  Both boys and girls can help to tie and finish the quilts.  Sewing skills are not required. Please sign up in Student Services. (KW –Sep 30)

  • Students needed to help hand out balloons at the Metcalfe Fair on Saturday October 1 and Sunday October 2. If you are interested in participating, please contact Lena Hillock, by sending her an email at lenahillock@rogers.com. (KW –Sep 30)

Volunteer tab to search for Volunteer opportunities.  There are numerous volunteer opportunities during the school year.  At times, there are too many to post in the written announcements.
