WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

clip_image002YEARBOOKS:

  • Some yearbooks have been pulled because of non payment of fees. Students need to go to the office and pay their fee before they can come and collect their yearbook from Mr. Pentlow on Friday at lunchtime. 

  • If students haven't ordered a book, there will be some extra available by lottery.  Students can see Mr. Pentlow before Friday with $40 cash, in order to have their name put into the lottery (students who do not get a yearbook in the lottery, will have their money returned). (AP – Jun 17)

clip_image004HS FOOTBALL MEETING (GRADES 8 TO 11): There will be a mandatory meeting in room 119 at 3:00 p.m on Friday, June 17 for all students interested in playing football for the upcoming season. (AC –Jun 17)

clip_image006LIBRARY: The first homeroom to have all books returned and fines paid by Monday, June 20 will receive ice cream bars! (CHV –Jun 20)

clip_image008LAST DAY FOR CAFETERIA SERVICE: The last day for cafeteria service is Friday June 24.  There will be no caf service for June 27 - 28, so all staff and students are reminded to bring a lunch on those days. (CB –Jun 24)

clip_image013VIMY 2012: There will be a meeting this Friday in Student Services at 2:30 for all students participating in the Vimy 2012 trip next March. Appointment slips will be given out Friday morning. (MP –Jun 17)

 

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

(*updated)  See Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 for information regarding next March Break's trip to the incredible city of London, England.  Come see the birthplace of such greats as William Shakespeare, Prince William and Mr. Pentlow!  This trip is being organized for senior students.  Reserve your spot by June 20 for as little as $195.00. clip_image019ADOBE YOUTH VOICES: Adobe Youth Voices is a new and exciting project brought to you by YOUCAN and TakingITGlobal to teach youth aged 13-18 video and photo editing skills and to encourage Youth to create multimedia projects about issues that are relevant to them. Youth are given 12-15 hours of editing training and given access to cameras and the lab at other times to finalize there creations and have the whole world hear what you(th) have to say. All sessions take place at St. Paul University and are free of charge. Space is limited so please register early. For more information or to register contact us at youthvoices@youcan.ca. clip_image021DRIVER’S EDUCATION: It's here!  Driver’s Education for the summer. Locations for in class sessions are at All Saints HS, Sacred Heart HS, St. Joseph HS, St. Paul HS and St. Peter HS.  Open to all students attending Ottawa region secondary schools.  Must be at least 16 years of age and have a G1 license prior to July 4th, 2011.  Registration runs from May 2nd - June 17th, 2011.  Forms can be found in Student Services. clip_image023VOLUNTEER, VOLUNTEER, VOLUNTEER! We have several volunteer opportunities this month, and throughout the summer. Too many details to include in these announcements, but here is a brief summary of what is available. We strongly encourage students to drop by Student Services and check out the Volunteer Clipboard!

  • clip_image025Ride the Rideau Cancer Research Fundraiser: Prizes, entertainment, fun, silent auction at Greenfields Pub and Eatery, 900 Greenbank Road, Tuesday, June 21st, 2011, 7pm to 10pm.  Volunteers needed for the event.  Please contact Manuela McLaughlin at 613 223-7951. On September 10th, Carol Badenoch and Cosmo Grant will bike the 100km. Proceeds from their sponsorship will go to support the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Research Institute.  See http://www.ridetherideau.ca for more details.

  • City of Ottawa: The City of Ottawa is offering an Advanced Leadership Program for youth 15 and up.  The youth will acquire pre-employment skills, experience and certificates including:  High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development Certificate, Standard First Aid, CPR-C and Defibrillator Training Certificate; Hands on work experience, Workplace communication, Programming experience and Leadership skills.  The focus here is to prepare youth for today's workplace.  Please call 613-580-2424 extension 41210.  Come to Ben Franklin Place, 9am-4pm July 4th-8th, 2011. clip_image029CHILDCARE NEEDED – $ PAID OPPORTUNITY: Mother seeking before and after school childcare for 2 children attending St. Luke's Elementary School. Hours of care: approximately, 7:30 am - 9:00 am and 3:40pm - 6:00 pm.  Start date would be September 2011 for the entire school year.  The girl is 10 years old and the boy is 6 years old.  Requirements: bilingual French and English, certified babysitting course, CPR.  PAY: Rate to be discussed.
