~ Lenten Thought for the Day ~

Lent should be… ~ A choice to look to Christ, ~ A movement of our heart towards Him, ~ A setting aside of any emotions that would keep us from trusting Him, ~ Renewing our heart and mind in His promises and assurances of His love so that in trust and confidence we will more fully open our hearts to Him and allow the mighty torrents of His grace to rush in and transform us. May the Lord help us to pursue Him with our whole heart this Lent.

WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

ARE YOU A FAST TEXTER?? If so, you can win concert tickets to a sold out concert this summer. Show off your speed starting Monday at lunch. Look for the banner in the atrium. $1 per entry allows you to record your score and enter a draw to win any one of hundreds of dollars worth of prizes. Yes... grade 7 and 8's, and staff... this means you too. Free chocolate bar to the first 72 entrants!! All proceeds go to the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. (LB –Apr 13)

ATTENTION EVERYONE WITH A SWEET TOOTH! April 11th to April 15th our Business class will be selling cinnamon buns each morning in the atrium to support D.I.F.D. What is D.I.F.D? D.I.F.D stands for Do it For Daron, a charity that supports teen mental health. We'll be selling each cinnamon bun for 2 dollars and all profits will be going to D.I.F.D. Each bun you buy also gives you a chance to win a prize! Please support the cause and buy a delicious cinnamon bun... besides that, Bun Appetite! (SM –Apr 15)

POPCORN! Popcorn will be sold in the atrium during both lunches on Friday, April 15th. $1.00/bag. (CHV –Apr 15)

YOGA: The spring schedule for Yoga will run for 8 weeks from Monday, March 28^th, 2011 until Monday, June 6^th, 2011, from 3:05 – 4:05 pm. (There are no classes April 25^th, May 2^nd and May 23^rd.) Anyone interested in signing up for the next yoga session can contact julierollwagen@rogers.com, or, registration forms are available in the main office. (JR –Apr 18)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

POETRY SLAM CAFÉ: Any Grade 7/8 student interested in participating in a POETRY SLAM CAFE during our Education Open House on Thursday, May 5 is asked to go see Ms. Curtis in Room 235 for further details! No experience necessary!! Come to Room 235 BEFORE April 15!! (TC Apr 14)

GUITAR SHOWCASE GRADES 7/8: There will be a guitar showcase on Friday, April 15 during 7/8 lunch in the library. Bring your lunches to the library and check out some of Mother Teresa's talented guitar students. Please see Mr. Card to get a library pass for the show. (AC –Apr 15)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

MTSAID- MOTHER TERESA STUDENTS AGAINST IMPAIRED DRIVING: There will be NO MTSAID meeting this week in room 205. Regular meetings will resume next Wednesday. (MK –Apr 13)

BASEBALL PRACTICES: Next practice is scheduled for Wednesday April 13 at the Hornet’s Nest field. Meet at the back of the school at 3:15pm. Be there and be positive. (RR –Apr 13)

FIELD LACROSSE PRACTICES: Field Lacrosse players are reminded that practices this week will be on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please be changed and on the field for 3:00pm sharp. (JL –Apr 14)

B.U. TEAM MEETING: The Grade 9 Girls B.U. team will meet on Friday during second period in the chapel. Names will be posted on Thursday. (MD –Apr 15)

GUITAR SHOWCASE GRADES 9 – 12: There will be a guitar showcase on Friday, April 15 during lunch in the library. Bring your lunches to the library and check out some of Mother Teresa's talented guitar students. (AC –Apr 15)

IMPROV: An Improv competition is in the works. Come to Improv on Monday, April 18 at lunch in Rm 138 to get in on it! We will be organizing teams at this meeting. See you then. (JS –Apr 18)

OVERSEAS ENRICHMENT TRIP 2012 – RETURN TO VIMY RIDGE: Next year we are planning a trip, in conjunction with a number of high schools in our board, to Return to Vimy Ridge to participate in the ceremonies hosted by the Ministry of Veteran Affairs to commemorate the 95th Anniversary of The Battle of Vimy Ridge. Students will represent a given soldier who died at Vimy Ridge by creating a tribute and wearing a shirt at the ceremony bearing the name of the soldier. The 12 day trip will take us to Milan, Venice (Italy), Bern, Lucerne (Switzerland), Paris, Normandy(France), Ypres, Dieppe, Passchendaele, Flanders and Brussels (Belgium). ATTENTION GRADUATES: Applications for the Sens Foundation Scholarship are now available in Student Services. You must be applying for a full-time program at Algonquin College to be eligible. (RB –Apr 14)

ATTENTION ALL GRADS! Prom is right around the corner so make sure you buy your tickets! Tickets will be on sale for THREE DAYS ONLY April 13, 14, 15! They will be sold in room 205 at lunch. Tickets are $75 each. Don't miss out on a fun night! (NR –Apr 15)

ATTENTION GRADUATES – AWARD INFO: The Sylvester Quinn Memorial Award in the amount of $1000 is awarded to one graduate in each Ottawa Catholic High School to assist students in pursuing a post secondary education. Applications for this award are now available in Student Services. (RB –Apr 21)

LOOKING FOR A PROM DRESS?? Fairy Godmother of Ottawa is a local non-profit dedicated to making prom night magical for all Ottawa area teens. Graduating high school students can be dressed free of charge for their special night. The dresses are stylish and in perfect condition so no one will know who has had the help of a fairy godmother! New and almost-new formal dresses, shoes and accessories are collected throughout the city and then distributed to Ottawa area high school students in need. Students who need a fairy godmother are asked to schedule a fitting by calling 613-232-PROM. (KP –Apr 29)

GRADUATION CEREMONY: The Grad Ceremony will be held Wednesday June 29^th at 1:00pm at Mother Teresa HS. Each graduate will be given 2 tickets for their guests. Students that require more than 2 tickets must request the number of extra tickets by signing up in Student Services between Monday May 2^nd and Friday May 6^th. Signing up does not guarantee you will receive the number requested. Students should drop by Student Services the following week to find out how many extra tickets they will receive. (JH –May 6)
