MINI-ENRICHMENT: A reminder to students who were placed in a mini-enrichment course, that the deadline to withdraw is March 10th.  Please bring the signed form in to Mrs. McLaughlin (room 130) if that is your decision. (DM –Mar 10)

Twenty-five ambitious business students will have the amazing opportunity to attend the 6th Annual Youth Entrepreneurship Conference on April 19th where they will have a chance to "look at Entrepreneurship as a viable career option and gain insight on how to run a business from young entrepreneurs and local business professionals in an engaging way."  This exciting day is filled with workshops, advice from successful young entrepreneurs, networking opportunities, and prizes!  Application forms are available in room 216 and are due back by Thursday March 10th. clip_image012WANTED: A VOICE FOR STUDENTS! Interested in being a Student Trustee? You will assist your peers with complaints, questions and suggestions regarding your school or services, and bring those issues to the board.  Term of Office: August 1, 2011 – July 31, 2012.  Election: April 26, 2011.  The Elected Student Trustee receives an honorarium of $ 2500.  Each high school may select one candidate.  Selection Deadline: April 15th, 2011.

·         Requirements:

  • Full time day high school student

  • Overall average of at least 70%

  • 16 years of age or older when assuming office (parent/guardian permission required if under 18 yrs).

SAT'S: Any grade 12 student looking to write the SAT's for entrance to American Universities, there is a free seminar to outline the process and the exam on Thursday March 10 or Saturday March 12. See Student Services for more details. (JH –Mar 11)

clip_image024U OTTAWA SPRING OPEN HOUSE is Friday, March 18, 2011 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come experience uOttawa!  Over 60 presentations and workshops.  Guided tours of campus, residences and sports facilities. There will be an Information fair bringing together professors, students and representatives from faculties and services. Register online uOttawa.ca/admission. (KW –Mar 11)

clip_image026GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES:  In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June.  As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa: 

·          PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance.  The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by May 13th, 2011.

  • GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 10, 2011.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Mar 11)
