HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

PEER HELPER CLASS VISITS: Attention Peer Helpers! You are to do you class visits today. Don't forget to check the peer helping file for activity instructions and bring the bag of pretzels. (MB –Mar 11)

WANTED: A VOICE FOR STUDENTS! Interested in being a Student Trustee? You will assist your peers with complaints, questions and suggestions regarding your school or services, and bring those issues to the board. Term of Office: August 1, 2011 – July 31, 2012. Election: April 26, 2011. The Elected Student Trustee receives an honorarium of $ 2500. Each high school may select one candidate. Selection Deadline: April 15^th, 2011.

· Requirements:

Full time day high school student
Overall average of at least 70%
16 years of age or older when assuming office (parent/guardian permission required if under 18 yrs).

EQAO LITERACY TEST PREPARATION: During the month of March, extra help/practice is available in the library seminar room before and after school in preparation for the test on Thursday, March 31, 2011. (CHV –Mar 25)

STUDENT SERVICES

OPTION SHEETS (OVER)DUE!! The Option Sheet contract was due Friday March 4. Option sheets handed in late are date stamped and this could affect elective choices. Please hand in ASAP. (JH –Mar 11)

ATTENTION ALL GRADS! Grad sweaters will be on sale until Friday this week. Forms are available at Student Services, and can be dropped off there when complete. Get yours today! Cheques should be made payable to “Organik Graphyx”. (LB – Mar 11)

SAT'S: Any grade 12 student looking to write the SAT's for entrance to American Universities, there is a free seminar to outline the process and the exam on Thursday March 10 or Saturday March 12. See Student Services for more details. (JH –Mar 11)

U OTTAWA SPRING OPEN HOUSE is Friday, March 18, 2011 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come experience uOttawa! Over 60 presentations and workshops. Guided tours of campus, residences and sports facilities. There will be an Information fair bringing together professors, students and representatives from faculties and services. Register online uOttawa.ca/admission. (KW –Mar 11)

GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES: In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June. As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:

· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance. The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by May 13^th, 2011.

GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 10, 2011.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Mar 11)
