WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF – PLEASE READ!! At the end of last semester, video camera cords were borrowed from the Phys-ed office and not returned. Please return to the library or to the phys-ed office if found. Unfortunately the video recorders do not work without the cords to charge the camera. (SR –Mar 7)

MINI-ENRICHMENT: A reminder to students who were placed in a mini-enrichment course, that the deadline to withdraw is March 10th. Please bring the signed form in to Mrs McLaughlin (room 130) if that is your decision. (DM –Mar 10)

YOGA: The drop in Yoga classes will continue on Mondays throughout March, from 3:05-4:05 PM. Classes cost $5.00 for each drop in class. Both staff and students are welcome. Come on out! (JR –Mar 28)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

ATTENTION 7 & 8 BADMINTON TEAM: Congratulations on a fantastic season! Your coaches are very proud of you all! Come on out Monday, March 7^th, 3 - 4 PM for some open court time as well as a team photo. Treats will also be served! Any 7 & 8 teachers are invited to come out to challenge our champs to a match! REACH FOR THE TOP – SEMI-FINALS! The last round begins Tuesday with The P.B. Experience battling Team World Domination and the last game before the final will be Wednesday with the 5 Aces challenging the Council of Doom JFK Zombies. (JS –Mar 8)

ARE YOU A FUTURE ENTREPRENEUR? Twenty-five ambitious business students will have the amazing opportunity to attend the 6th Annual Youth Entrepreneurship Conference on April 19th where they will have a chance to "look at Entrepreneurship as a viable career option and gain insight on how to run a business from young entrepreneurs and local business professionals in an engaging way." This exciting day is filled with workshops, advice from successful young entrepreneurs, networking opportunities, and prizes! Application forms are available in room 216 and are due back by Thursday March 10th. (SM –Mar 10)

WANTED: A VOICE FOR STUDENTS! Interested in being a Student Trustee? You will assist your peers with complaints, questions and suggestions regarding your school or services, and bring those issues to the board. Term of Office: August 1, 2011 – July 31, 2012. Election: April 26, 2011. The Elected Student Trustee receives an honorarium of $ 2500. Each high school may select one candidate. Selection Deadline: April 15^th, 2011.

Full time day high school student
Overall average of at least 70%
16 years of age or older when assuming office (parent/guardian permission required if under 18 yrs).

GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES: In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June. As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:

· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance. The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by May 13^th, 2011.

GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 10, 2011.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Mar 11)
