WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

clip_image004YOGA: The drop in Yoga classes will continue on Mondays throughout March, from 3:05-4:05 PM. Classes cost $5.00 for each drop in class. Both staff and students are welcome. Come on out! (JR –Mar 28)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

clip_image014SAY IT OUT LOUD: Final call for February submissions.  The choice of topic and form is yours.  Drop off your submission to Rm 138 by Friday.  Start thinking about the March contest.  Students are asked to write a monologue or dialogue of 500 words maximum. (JS –Mar 4)

clip_image016STRATFORD 2011: Please get your permission forms and deposit in by Wednesday, March 2 at the very latest.  We are still looking for people to join us on the trip.  All Stratford 2011 participants are asked to meet briefly in Rm 138 on Friday, March 4.  This is an important meeting.  If you cannot attend, please see Mr. Rowley or Mrs. Simpson before Friday. IMPROV CLUB:  The Improv Club will meet next Monday (March 7) at lunch in Rm 138.  Drop by for a try! (JS –Mar 7)

clip_image018WANTED: A VOICE FOR STUDENTS! Interested in being a Student Trustee? You will assist your peers with complaints, questions and suggestions regarding your school or services, and bring those issues to the board.  Term of Office: August 1, 2011 – July 31, 2012.  Election: April 26, 2011.  The Elected Student Trustee receives an honorarium of $ 2500.  Each high school may select one candidate.  Selection Deadline: April 15th, 2011.

·         Requirements:

  • Full time day high school student

  • Overall average of at least 70%

  • 16 years of age or older when assuming office (parent/guardian permission required if under 18 yrs).

clip_image032GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES:  In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June.  As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa: 

·          PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance.  The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by May 13th, 2011.

  • GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 10, 2011.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Mar 11)
