Drama Production Tickets: A reminder to Grades 7 and 8 students that play tickets are on sale during the first fifteen minutes of your lunch period in the cafeteria. Little Shop of Horrors' opening night is TONIGHT. The play runs from Wednesday to Saturday from 7:30 pm.

7-8 students: What is the largest reptile in the world? (Komodo dragon). What is Selma and Patti’s favorite TV show? (MacGyver). If you know the answer to these questions or if you just enjoy trivia, you are invited to enter as an individual or as a team in the annual Reach for the Top competition. A meeting for all those interested will be held this Friday, Dec. 15 at 12:41 in room 316. If you can't make it, speak with Mr. Bouchard before Friday.

Reach For The Top: The Quest for the Mighty Brain Hiccup has returneth. The sixth season begins Thursday, December 14 at 11:50 am in Room 200. The opening game (apparently Mr. Hallarn will be throwing out the first pitch) features the Intergalactic Walruses and Channel 4 News Team. Note to all 16 teams - a Round One schedule has been posted on the door of the Crazy Kitchen.

Congratulations: Six Mother Teresa students have been chosen for literary awards by the Royal Canadian Legion for their entries in the Remembrance Day contest. Shad Valley: The Shad Valley experience is an opportunity for talented students in Gr. 11 or 12 to experience quality enrichment opportunities over a four week period in the summer. Young people from across Canada are selected to discover the excitement of campus life, staying in residence in one of the 12 participating universities across Canada. Students will share ideas in workshops, lectures, and projects and be part of a team and develop a new product addressing a societal need. Scholarship: In 2007, the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation will grant 1,052 entrance awards to students beginning post-secondary studies for the first time as part of its Millennium Excellence Award Program. There will be: 100 national awards of $20,000, disbursed in annual allotments; 241 provincial/territorial awards of $16,000, disbursed in annual allotments and 711 one-time local awards of $4,000. In order to be eligible a student must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a protected person within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

The Selection criteria are: 1. Good citizenship, demonstrated by positive and verifiable service to the community. 2. Academic achievement. 3. Demonstrated capacity for leadership and ability to motivate others and 4. Demonstrated interest in innovation. The deadline for applications is December 15. Those hired as Pages work on a part-time basis during their first year of study at one of the universities in Ottawa. Subject to fulfilling their contracts, Pages are paid $10,800 in 26 equal payments over a 12-month period. In addition, a sum of $1,200 will be paid at the end of the employment period in August, 2008. To qualify you must have an overall average of at least 80% in your final marks in Grade 11 as well as maintain this average in subsequent transcripts of your marks. You must speak both official languages at the superior level as evaluated by the House of Commons. Please note that science and engineering students are unfortunately ineligible due to heavy study demands and inflexibility of their academic timetables. House of Commons Page Program: Each year 40 students are selected from high schools across Canada to come to Ottawa and work as Pages in the House of Commons. Those hired as Pages work on a part-time basis during their first year of study at one of the universities in Ottawa. Subject to fulfilling their contracts, Pages are paid $10,800 in 26 equal payments over a 12-month period. In addition, a sum of $1,200 will be paid at the end of the employment period in August, 2008. To qualify you must have an overall average of at least 80% in your final marks in Grade 11 as well as maintain this average in subsequent transcripts of your marks. You must speak both official languages at the superior level as evaluated by the House of Commons. Please note that science and engineering students are unfortunately ineligible due to heavy study demands and inflexibility of their academic timetables. Reminder: High school report cards will be distributed to students on Thursday, November 16. Friday, November 17 is a Professional Development day for all teachers in the school board. There is no school for students on that day. High School parent-teacher interviews will be held on Thursday, November 23. Appointment information will be included with the report cards.

Peer Helpers: There is a Peer Helper meeting on Wednesday, November 15 at 11:40 in room 326.

Volunteers Needed: Looking for Community Service hours in our community? The Lions Club is looking for student volunteers to work on the IKEA Christmas Tree sales project. Sales will take place on three consecutive weekends, starting on Saturday, Nov. 25. If you are interested in working a 4 or 5 hour shift of any of those Saturdays or Sundays, please call Ann Pierce at 825-1646.

Alpine Ski Team: There is an important meeting for all students interested in joining this year's Alpine Ski Team. The meeting will be at lunch TODAY in Portable 9. Please Mr. Stewart or Mrs. Galbraith if you cannot make the meeting. Dry land practices will be starting this week.

It will be held on Thursday, Nov. 23 at Rideau H.S. at 815 St. Laurent Blvd., beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Information tables and light refreshments. Program starts at 7:00 p.m. No registration is required and there is free admission and plenty of parking.

Ottawa Education and Training Fair: Come to the Ottawa Congress Centre on November 13, 2006, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Congress Hall E. for the Ottawa Education and Training Fair - new career seekers, parents and students are invited. The event is free, but students attending should register online at http://www.nasinstitute.com/.

Grade 7 & 8 Opportunity: Grade 7/8 students interested in participating in the Legislative Page Program are encouraged to pick up information in room 322.
