Blood Donor Clinic: Mother Teresa High School is hosting a blood donor clinic on Friday, May 19th. There are 199 students eligible to give blood at Mother Teresa. We are looking for 56 donors. If you have not already signed up through your homeroom and are interested in donating blood on May 19th, please see Mrs. McLaughlin in room 322. Minimum age to donate is 17 years old.

Student Council Applications: All candidates from grade 8-11, who have submitted their packages by the deadline, are reminded of the brief meeting TODAY at 10:30 in the library Conference room.

Notice to Gr. 10 and 11 Students: Algonquin College is hosting a one day exploratory experience for students who may be interested in their Outdoor Adventure and Adventure Naturalist Program. Activities planned a low ropes challenge, ecology and flora tour, blind tent set up, the human knot, rock climbing and flat water kayaking. All this takes place on Thursday, May 11 from 9:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Wilderness Tours Resort in Pembroke. Students only pay a small fee for the bus and a free lunch is included. We only have a couple of places left. If you are interested, please give your name to Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services before 1:00 p.m. today.

Parent-Teacher Interviews for H.S.: A reminder that tomorrow (Thursday, April 27th) is Parent-Teacher interviews for parents of high school students. Report cards were sent home on Friday, April 21 with appointment request forms. Students in Gr. 7 to 12 will be dismissed at 2:05 p.m. tomorrow.

Girls Rugby: The Girls Rugby team went to New Brunswick this past weekend for the annual Rothesay Rugby tournament. There were 41 boys and girls teams with over 1000 participants. The girls played together for the first time taking a team of 19 players including 10 rookies. The team was persistent despite minor injuries in 5 players winning silver in their division. Veterans Maria Librada, and captains, Brittany Johnson and Emma Urban scored for the Titans as did two rookies, Victoria and Rianne who got their first taste of touching the ball down in the end zone for a try each. It was the consistent effort of each player and the flexibility to try new positions that contributed to the team's results. Congratulations to the girls successful start to their season and a thanks to the coaches for their time and efforts this weekend.

Day 1

Algonquin College Summer Camps: Algonquin College is running four one-week summer workshops for students in Grade 7 and up. Each week runs from Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Saturdays are for both parents and students to give students an opportunity to demonstrate their completed projects, participate in a tour of the campus and attend a short awards ceremony. These Career Sampler workshops take place in July with the following: week of July 4 - Media Design; week of July 11 - Hospitality and Construction Trades; week of July 18 - Community and Social Services; and week of July 25 - Police and Justice Services. Writing Competitions: Application forms are available from Mr. McGovern in room 300 for several writing competitions where entries must be submitted by April 28th. One of these is the Carleton University Annual Competition which includes short stories, poetry, plays and literary essays.

Internet Safety Night for Parents: The Ottawa Police Service is presenting an Internet Safety Night for Parents on Wednesday, April 12 at Lisgar H.S. (29 Lisgar St.) from 7 - 9 p.m. The lecture will identify some of the hazards associated with surfing the net, using Chat rooms and instant Messaging. Due to some of the content of this presentation, it is recommended that youth do not attend.

Also, for those students who did sign up for track and field, PRACTICES HAVE STARTED!!!!!! If you still want a chance to be on the team you need to make it out to the practices. Failure to make it to this week's practices and you will be cut from the team!!! What’s that famous saying ...... Practice makes perfect!

The Challenge is On: The Juicy Fruit Sweeeet shot Challenge is an opportunity for students to win 1 of 5 -$1000 scholarships plus a chance to win a school visit from NBA legend Muggsy Bogues. Everyday between April 3 and May 12, 2006, students can put their knowledge of math, science, history and basketball to the test by answering daily skill-testing questions posted on-line at juicyfruit.ca and NBA.com/Canada. For every correct answer, students will be entered into a draw to win one of the scholarships.

CNML Contest: Our next CNML (Math))contest will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 12:30 - 1:00 pm in the library. Please bring calculator, paper and pencil.

Rosary: Today, at lunch, in the Chapel we will pray the rosary. Come and join us!

Read-A-Thon Results: The Read-A-Thon raised over $1500. Thank you to all the Grade 7 & 8 students who participated. It was a great success and fun was had by all. A special thank-you goes to all the "reading" cheerleaders who promoted the event so well. The money will be used to buy some resources for the library.

We’re about getting active and having fun in a non-traditional sense: maybe a little DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) or skateboarding or anything you want us to do!
