Starting Monday, November 11th, we will be
collecting socks in support of the Barrhaven Legion's Socks for the
Homeless campaign. Please put your donation of new socks in the box outside the
caf at lunch. The box will be there during both high school and 7/8 lunch. The
Barrhaven Legion's goal this year is to collect 20 000 pairs of socks to
give to the homeless in Ottawa - let's help them meet this goal!
Technovation: To all interested Girls (Gr. 7
- 12): registration forms are due to Resource (Rm 232) no later than
Friday, November 29th. (SH Nov. 29)
The Scholastic Book
Fair is in the Learning Commons: Every year
Scholastic provides several amazing books and gifts to purchase in our
“bookstore” (Learning Commons Seminar Room). Both high school and intermediate
students are welcome to drop by before, after school, or during the lunch hour.
All funds raised are used to buy literacy resources for our Learning Commons.

7/8 Table Tennis: There will be 7/8 Table Tennis tryouts on
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Tryouts will be after
school 3pm - 4pm in the Dance Studio. See schedule below.

Then Reach for the Top is for you! The reach for the top team tournament is
starting up again so put in a team. Games will be held at lunch 1 -2 times a
week and the winning team wins pizza. Get your sign-up sheets outside room 307.

Tutors Needed for Math - We are currently in need of students in
Grade 10-12 who can tutor math. Tutors are paid $15/hour or you can earn
community service hours. Tutoring takes place from 3:00-4:00 at the

There is ONE newly opened spot for the
New York City trip in the spring: May 14th - 17th 2020. Any grade 11 or 12 student interested in joining the trip is asked to

Attention all Gr. 11 & 12 students - Registration for Algonquin College Dual
Credit program (winter term) will open
on October 21 and close November 8. This is a great opportunity
for students who would like to experience taking a course in college while in
high school (earning a credit in both). There are many courses
offered. If you would like more information, please speak to your

is a STEAM (science, tech, engineering, arts, math) and entrepreneurship
program for students in grades 10 and 11. Labs, seminars, hands-on
workshops, a hands-on challenge to develop a plan and prototype that solves a
real-world issue. Live on campus at a Canadian university in July. Application
deadline is November 18, 2019. Shad2020 runs from July 5 to July 31.
