SPC Cards:
Any students who have not picked up their SPC cards must do so by Monday,
October 28. Those who have not picked up their cards may see Ms. Zimmer in the

Italy
2021. Do you like food? Do like to
travel? If so then this trip is for you. In March of 2021 students at SMT
have the opportunity to tour Italy. Rome, Bologna, and Milan
are just a few of the places you will see. This is a first come,
first serve trip. See Mr Pelletier in room 110 to get details and a

Archaeology Day: hosted by the
Archaeological Institute for America Ottawa
Society. Come join us for our yearly event: From the Ground Up, an
International Archaeology Day Event. It is completely free, and
appropriate for students of all ages. We have workshops, University and College
representation, students back from their fieldschools and ready to discuss their
experiences, and interactive stations for elementary school aged children

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
HS Book Club: Any students interested in joining a high school book club
are asked to meet at the start of lunch on Thursday in the Learning Commons'

Senior Girls
Volleyball: Attention all grade 11 and 12 students interested in
trying out for the senior girl's volleyball team; please add your name to
the sign-up sheet that is on Mrs Ragaisis' phys-ed office door. Our first
try-out will be Monday, October 28th and
Tuesday, October 29th in the wood floor gym. (SR Oct. 29)
High School Wrestling Team: The
first practice for the High School Wrestling Team will be on Tuesday, October 29th, after school in the
caf gym. The team will be accepting new members until November 8th. See Mr

Highschool Swim Team - There will be a very important meeting in room
310 at lunch on Friday, October 25th. It's not too late to
join! First practice will be Monday Oct 28 at Walter Baker Pool from 3:30

Career: Carousel: On Tuesday, November 5th at 9 am we will
holding a Career Carousel in the atrium for Grades 10-12. If you, or

Europe 2020: A mandatory meeting about The
Liberation of The Netherlands Europe Trip May 2020 (England, The Netherlands,

Key Club!! Any grade 9-12 students interested in leadership opportunities
through community involvement, or who wish to complete their volunteer hours is
welcomed to join Key Club! Meetings will be held on Thursdays at lunch in room

Credit program (winter term) will open
on October 21 and close November 8. This is a great opportunity
for students who would like to experience taking a course in college while in

Shad Canada
is a STEAM (science, tech, engineering, arts, math) and entrepreneurship
program for students in grades 10 and 11. Labs, seminars, hands-on
workshops, a hands-on challenge to develop a plan and prototype that solves a
real-world issue. Live on campus at a Canadian university in July. Application

The
Program:
● Saturday learning will develop
skills for improved literacy (oral communication,
reading and writing) and numeracy.
Students will have opportunities to collaborate, leverage technology, develop
study habits, improve learning skills. Students can prepare for EQAO testing,
school day projects, tests, quizzes and culminating activities, etc. Students
will have access to technology. Fitness activities will also be incorporated
into the Saturday Learning Club. No cost to families. FREE to all students.
How
to Register: Students currently enrolled in grades 8 or 9, 10. This
program is designed for
students who are presently achieving
at level 2 or lower. Regular attendance is required. Parents must complete and
sign the required registration form. The student’s day school principal must

to help us out on our Canskate (Learn to Skate)
sessions!!! You must be able to
skate well.
You will assist the Canskate
coaches with the on ice program, for example helping skaters to
their groups, helping skater skate,
set up the items/toys on the ice and collecting name badges.

Volunteers. Watson’s Mill in Manotick wants you to join their cast
and crew for a truly haunting experience. They need volunteers who
will scare our visitors and leave them frightened of things that go bump in the
night.
Haunt
Night volunteers will be needed for the evenings of October 24, 25,
and 26 from 5pm – 10pm.
All time spent as part of our cast
and crew can be used towards the 40 hours of community service needed to
