7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Yoga- grade 7 and 8 yoga will continue on Tuesdays in the Dance studio. We will start earlier (12:30) this week to give us more time. Students are welcome to bring their own mats and store them in Room 200 in the morning before school. There will still be mats available for anyone who needs one. Thanks for all your great energy the first week. (KM Oct. 2)

7/8 Boys Flag Rugby: The remaining practices will be Friday, September 28thMonday October 1st, and Wednesday, October 3rd, all after school. (BC Oct. 3)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

HS Band: Any High School Students wishing to join HS Concert Band, please join us in room 120, Tuesday, October 2nd. We will meet from 3 to 4 pm. (IC Oct.2)

Would you like to take a trip to Europe?  There is still room to join Mrs. Hussey D-Day trip to England and France this spring!  Students who have already signed up, and any interested students, are asked to attend an important meeting on Monday, October 1st in room 204 at 11:30 am. (AH Oct. 1)

HS Swim Team - There will be a meeting at 11:30 on Tuesday, October 2nd in room 205 for all students interested in joining the high school swim team. If you cannot make the meeting, please see Mrs Sinclair. (JS Oct.2)    

All grade 9/10 Boys’ interested in trying out for the Junior Boys’ Basketball team are asked to attend the following two try outs:
Monday, October 1st 2018 - 3:00pm - 4:30pm - Tile Floor Gym 
Wednesday, October 3rd 2018 - 4:30pm - 6:00pm - Wood Floor Gym

Driver Education Fall 2018 Program.  Forms are available in Student Services. Registration runs until October 10th.  Do not bring back the form to Student Services, but register either online, by fax, by mail or in person as specified on the registration form.  The Fee is $705.12. Students must be at least 16 years of age and have a G1 License prior to October 15, 2018. (KW Oct. 10)


Students in Gr. 9-12 wishing to be a tutor are invited to pick up a tutoring application in Student Services.  (MB Sept. 28)

Go Eng Girl - Saturday, October 13th, 2018, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cost is free.  It is a unique opportunity for female students in Grades 7 to 10 and their parents to learn about careers in the exciting field of engineering.  Register:  carleton.ca/vv. (KW Oct. 13)

Concordia University is having an Open House on Saturday, October 20th, 2018, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Sir George Williams Campus and Loyola Campus. Register at concordia.ca/openhouse
Plus, portfolio days coming up at Concordia are:  Saturday, October 20th, and February 16, 2019. Get one-on-one constructive feedback about your work and learn more about their programs and how to apply. (KW Oct. 20)

A representative from Josten's Rings will be in the atrium, at lunch time, on October 15th and 16th. See Student Services for more information. (KW Oct. 16)

There will be an important meeting for all grade 12 students Wednesday, September 26th during period 4. Students would report to their period 4 class for attendance and to pick up their status sheet before heading to the meeting. Students who have a spare NEED to attend this "Everything you need to know for Grade 12" meeting. 

Students who are College bound will report to The Learning Commons.
Students who are University bound will head to Gym C/D (College information will be provided at this meeting as well.)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

LF Volunteers: The Nepean Blue Devils Association for the Midget recreational girls team is in need for an assistant coach with good knowledge of the game for the season starting October 2018 to March 2019.  Practices are at the Adrianne Clarkson School in Barrhaven on Tuesdays from 8-10pm and games are usually on Saturdays (different times). There are no out of town tournaments only a local championship at the end of the season.
 We are looking for any Grade 11 or 12 students (girls and boys). If interested please contact: Manon Boyle (volunteer with the Nepean Blue Devils) manonboyle@yahoo.com 613-314-0253. (KZ Oct. 12)

LF Volunteers: Do you have what it takes? Watson’s Mill in Manotick wants you to join our cast and crew for a truly haunting experience. We need volunteers for who will scare our visitors and leave them frighten of things that go bump in the night. Haunt Night volunteers will be needed for the evenings of October 18th, 19th, and 20th from 5pm – 10pm.All time spent as part of our cast and crew can be used towards the 40 hours of community service needed to graduate.
