WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR: Library staff is pleased to invite all students and teachers to our annual Scholastic Book Fair being held in the seminar room (library) starting today November 3rd until November 14th. Looking forward to seeing you all. (MP Nov. 14)

The Barrhaven Santa Claus Parade is taking place Sunday, November 20th 2016 at 5:30pm.
Once again, school bursary awards will be available.  Mother Teresa High School won $1,000 last year for the best float at the High School level! You can sign up as a volunteer for the event and/or create a team to plan and build our school float.....Please check www.SantaClausBarrhaven.com for more information about the event, how to sign up as volunteer and how to register your float for free. MT students have a long tradition of  participating in our local Legion's Poster and Writing Contest for Remembrance Day.  It is a great way to shine and show your talents!   This year we are looking for art, writing or video projects.  Posters can be in black and white or colour, with the theme-Remembrance   We are also looking for essays or poems.   You can write stories, journals, recollections from family members, etc.   Maximum words for the literary contest is 500, maximum lines for poetry is 32 lines.    Posters and writing can be in French or English.   (no larger than 56 X 71 cm - no bristol boards, canvas please....)  If you have any questions, or would like a registration form, please see Mrs. Birmingham in room 230.   Deadline is November 11th!   Good luck. Inviting Military Personnel to the Remembrance Day Service: If you have a military parent, relative or friend that you'd like to invite to our school Remembrance Day Service on November 11th please pick up an invitation outside of the school office or outside of Mme Kinloch's room 232. 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

French Club: Are you interested in socializing with your friends in French?  Would you like to help plan our Friday morning French radio (over the intercom)? The 7/8 French Social Club will meet on Thursdays during lunch, beginning this week. Sign up outside room 334.  Bring your lunch or see Mrs Francella or Mrs. Leahy for a French club pass if you need to buy your lunch. (LF, CL Dec 22)

7/8 Tchoukball: Any grade 7/8’s interested in trying out for Tchoukball, please sign up outside Room 231 by Friday, November 4th. Remember that if you have been part of a school team already this year, you are not eligible to tryout for the Tchoukball team. The first tryout will take place on Wednesday, November 9th after school from 3-4 pm. (MM Nov. 9)

Remembrance Day Service - Attention Cadets: Any gr. 7/8 or high school cadets interested in participating  in our Remembrance Day Service on November 11th are asked to sign up on the list outside of Mme Kinloch's room. (room 232) We are looking for cadets to march in the flag parade, sell poppies, etc. (JK Nov 10)

Grade 7/8 Students are invited to visit the Learning Commons before school. Lunch passes have to be signed out every day.
Days for Gr.7/8 will alternate:
Mondays:  Gr.7/8 
Wednesdays & Fridays:  Gr. 7 only
Tuesdays & Thursdays: Gr.8 only

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

High School Cross-Country Runners: All High School Cross Country Runners are reminded to return their washed singlets to Mrs. Galbraith as soon as possible.  Please stay tuned to an announcement regarding sweatshirts. (MG Nov. 16)

Reach for the Top: Back by popular demand, there will be another information session and game demonstration for students interested in joining this year's intramural REACH team quiz/trivia tournament. The meeting takes place in Room 200 on Friday November 11 during Senior Lunch. Team entries can be submitted at this time. (CH Nov. 11)

All grade 11 students taking the CHW 3M course (Ancient History) with Mrs. Galbraith this semester AND next semester, there is an important informational and sign-up meeting for this year's trip to Toronto on MONDAY November 14 at lunch in room 304.  If you are a grade 12 student who took the course last year, you may also come to the meeting.  (MG Nov. 11)

During the lunch period, no High School student is permitted on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the new wing which is the 7/8 classroom areas. (MK)

H.S Boys' Varsity Hockey try-outs: will take place on November 8th @ Nepean Sportsplex "2" from 3:30-4:30 and November 10 @ Walter Baker "B" from 3:30-4:30.  This is Contact Hockey so Full equipment is needed, please make sure that you have a light and dark jersey with you.  See Mr. Gervasi in room 309 for more details. Swim Team: Our first meeting will be Thursday, November 10th at lunch in room 310. Practices are Monday's and Wednesday's 3:30-4:30pm at Walter Baker. If you haven't signed up yet, please do so on the form posted on the door (room 310). (PC Nov 10)

Manotick Family Christmas Party starts right after the Manotick Lions Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 3, 2016.  Looking for volunteers to help with the 10 activity stations set up in the basement of the Manotick United Church.  Hours would be from 1:00pm to 4:20pm that day.  Must provide your own transportation to and from the church.  For more information, please call to Laurel Slattery or Donna Ouellette at 613-692-4625.  Thank you. The Milk Bags 4 Haiti Club meets on Wednesdays at senior lunch time in the career centre. We are in need of specific milk bags to continue our mats project.

Carleton University FREE Saturday Engineering and Design Sessions from November 5th to December 3rd.  An in-depth look at program of your choice, followed by a hands-on lab experiement/demo and a tour of the facilities and campus.  Parents can register to accompany their children.  For more info or to register online, please visit carleton.ca/engineering-design/seds.  All sessions begin at 9:30am. The Irish Experience Summer Programs in Ireland.  27 days in duration and offers 110 hours of instructional time to fulfill requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum requirements. Grade 11 English (ENG3U),Grade 12 English (ENG4U),Grade 12 English (ENG4C)

Leisure at Carleton Lodge Long Term Care Home: Do you need your 40 hours of community service? Then contact us…You can register for one or more of the following assignments:
- Work in the Tuck Shop
- Help at church services
- Help out at mealtime –
-Help Recreation staff with activities
