HS: Day 1
WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
MT students have a long tradition of participating in our local
Legion's Poster and
Writing Contest for Remembrance Day. It is a great way
to shine and show your talents! This year we are looking for art,
writing or video projects. Posters can
be in black and white or colour, with the theme- Remembrance. We are also looking for
essays or poems. You can write stories, journals, recollections from family
members, etc. Maximum words for the literary contest is 500,
maximum lines for poetry is 32 lines. Posters and writing can be in French or English.
(no larger than 56 X 71 cm - no bristol boards, canvas
please....) If you have any questions, or would like a
registration form, please see Mrs. Birmingham in room 230. Deadline

Inviting Military Personnel to the Remembrance Day Service: If you have a military parent, relative or
friend that you'd like to invite to our school Remembrance Day Service
on November 11th please pick up an invitation outside of the school
office or outside of Mme Kinloch's room 232. (JK Nov. 10)
RedBlacks Tickets for Sale: The football team is selling Ottawa
RedBlacks tickets for their final game of the season on November 4,@ 7:00
pm. Tickets are $30. Tickets can be purchased in the atrium every morning
before homeroom. Students who have purchased tickets online can pickup their
tickets in the atrium in the morning. (AC Nov. 4)

Learning Commons: Do you
need Bristol board for a school project? You are in luck - you can now

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Remembrance Day Service - Attention Cadets: Any gr. 7/8 or high school cadets interested in participating in
our Remembrance Day Service on November 11th are asked to sign up on
the list outside of Mme Kinloch's room. (room 232) We are looking for
cadets to march in the flag parade, sell poppies, etc. (JK Nov 10)
Grade 7/8 Students are invited to visit the Learning
Commons before school. Lunch passes have to be signed
out every day.
Days for Gr.7/8 will alternate:
Mondays: Gr.7/8
Wednesdays & Fridays: Gr. 7 only
Tuesdays & Thursdays: Gr.8 only

Reach for the Top: There will be an
informational meeting for any students interested in joining this year's REACH
FOR THE TOP intramural team quiz/trivia tournament. The meeting takes
place in the Learning Commons Seminar Room on Thursday October 27 during

will be a meeting in room 310 at lunch on Thursday, October 27th for all peer helpers. We

Biology Competition: Any students

Wrestling: Looking for a new sport? Looking for a sport to keep you in
shape during your off-season while having fun? All high school boys and girls
interested in joining the Mother Teresa Varsity Wrestling Team are invited to a
meeting on Wednesday, October 26th, at 11:30 in room 333. Please

Cappies: All Cappies are asked
to attend a brief but important meeting on October 26 in RM 138 at
the start of lunch to discuss transportation to St. Paul's on October

White Pine: If you enjoy reading, sign up for the White
Pine reading club in the Learning Commons. This
year's White Pinenominated books cover a wide range of topics from
schizophrenic episodes, terrorism, survival, teen pregnancy, life in luxury vs.
life in the the slums of India, living with an alcoholic parent, rebelling from
life as a political hostage, to blending the lines between imagination and real

Madame Haucke and Madame Cote are looking for high school students to
ref the 7/8 boys and girls home volleyball games on October 26th and November
3rd. Community service hours are available! We need a ref and score keeper for
each game. Please come sign up outside room 238 if you are interested. (KH Oct. 21)
During the lunch period, no High School student is permitted on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the
new wing which is the 7/8 classroom areas. (MK)
H.S Boys' Varsity Hockey try-outs: will take place on November
8th @ Nepean Sportsplex "2"
from 3:30-4:30 and November 10 @ Walter Baker "B"
from 3:30-4:30. This is Contact Hockey so Full
equipment is needed, please make sure that you have a light and dark
jersey with you. See Mr. Gervasi in room 309 for more details. (MG Nov. 10)
Do you have basketball score keeping
experience? Do you need community service hours? Mr. Rowley is looking for FOUR basketball score keeping experienced
students to volunteer to score keep for the Senior Boys' basketball season.
This will require 5 games after school at 4:00 pm between
December and February and 3 tournament games on the weekend of January 12-14 2017 - earn up to 20 community service
hours - if experienced and interested see Mr. Rowley in Room 136. (MR)

for a french tutor, one day a week, (community service hours opportunity, could
lead to a paying job) for a grade 2 student attending Msgr Paul Baxter school.

The Milk Bags 4 Haiti Club meets on Wednesdays at senior lunch time in
the career centre. We are in need of specific milk bags to
continue our mats project.

FREE Saturday Engineering and Design Sessions from November 5th to
December 3rd. An in-depth look at
program of your choice, followed by a hands-on lab experiement/demo and a tour

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Monsignor Paul Baxter is having a Halloween Dance this Friday,
October 26th. They are looking for students to help with set-up, running activities
at the dance and clean-up. Up to 5 hours if you help out for the whole evening!

volunteers to help out at the Nepean Sportsplex and Walter Baker Sports Centre

St Luke's is holding a Halloween Spooktacular event on Fri Oct 28th from 5-9
pm. Looking for highschool students who need volunteer hours. Below
is a description of the event: Fri Oct 28th. Set up 4-5pm. Event 5-9pm. Clean up
after. We need your help setting up tables, chairs, decorations, a haunted
house, games and raffle tables. We also need volunteers to run the games
and raffle tables with adult help, and help with clean up afterwards. If you're
