WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Grade 7/8 Students are invited to visit the Learning Commons before school. Lunch passes have to be signed out every day.

Days for Gr.7/8 will alternate:
Mondays:  Gr.7/8 
Wednesdays & Fridays:  Gr. 7 only
Tuesdays & Thursdays: Gr.8 only

Red Maple (the Grade 7/8 Book Club) is coming soon. Please sign up in the Learning Commons.
Boys and Girls Rugby: Boys & Girls rugby try outs will continue this week!  Try outs will take place on Monday, September 19th & Wednesday, September 21st from 3:00-4:00pm. Please bring cleats if you have them and water.  Meet in the courtyard.  If it rains, try outs will be re-scheduled.  (JD Sept. 21)

7/8 Ultimate:  Tryouts/practices will take place on Tuesday, September 20th and Wednesday, September 21st at 7:30 a.m.  (KS Sept. 21)

7/8 Golf: There will be a brief but important meeting today at the start of 7/8 lunch for all members of the 7/8 Golf Team. The meeting will be held outside of Mr. Quinn's office. (TQ Sept. 19)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Improv at Lunch! If you would like to be part of MT's Improv Team, please attend a meeting at lunch on the stage on Friday, September 23. All are welcome. No experience necessary. (MR Sept. 23)

HS Girls Field Hockey - First Practice of the Season – Wednesday, September 21st @ 3pm. All girls MUST have proper equipment to practice - shinguards, ankleguards, mouthguard and appropriate footwear (running shoes are ok, but cleats are preferred).Note: White soccer socks and black spandex shorts will also be required for games. (CP Sept 21)

Junior or Senior Boys Basketball: Any High School boys interested in trying out for the Junior OR Senior Boys' Basketball teams are asked to attend a very important information meeting on Wednesday, September 21st at lunch (11:25am) in Room 136. If you have any questions see Mr. Rowley. (MR Sept. 21)

iPad Setup Survey: All HS students are asked to log in to my.mths.ca, and complete the iPad Setup Survey by clicking on the link. The short survey should only take a few moments, and will help us determine if your iPad is successfully set up with all of the MTHS apps. Students who do not have an iPad are also asked to complete the survey. Please note: Each student will only be able to answer the survey once, but can go back and edit their response if necessary. New York Trip: There are 4 spots remaining for this year's New York City Trip - any Grade 11 or 12 student still interested in joining the trip must bring in their permission forms and the first non refundable deposit before September, 30th 2016. If you have any questions please see Mr. Rowley in Room 136. (MR Sept. 30)

Cappies: Potential new Cappies are asked to submit their film reviews on or before September 21 to Rm 138.  The FULL team list will be on the door of Rm 138 by September 22nd.  Cappie writers are reminded to check the announcements regularly for upcoming training session dates.  Thank you for the interest in the program, but we can only take four new Cappies this year.  Hopefully, you will get another opportunity next year! High School Golf: Experienced low handicap HS golfers are invited to sign up in room 315, Thursday and Friday this week. Four spots only are available! Tournament will be on September 26th. (KM Sept. 26)

STUDENT SERVICES

The STUDENT SERVICES WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool, including information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses, Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.

The MT Milk Bags Club will be running again this year. It's an easy way to get 30 minutes of community service right here at the school. The Club will meet on Wednesdays, 11:30am to noon, in the Career Centre.
For more information, please see Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services. It's time to turn those milk bags into beautiful, colourful, comfy sleeping mats! (KW Sept. 30)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Watson’s Mill in Manotick wants volunteers for their Haunt Nights. They are looking for actors and actresses who would like to take on main roles, as well as hair and make-up artists.
You will be needed for the evenings of October 20th, 21st, and 22nd from 5pm to 10pm.
You must be 14 or older and will need parental consent.  Arrive wearing a base layer of stretchy, comfy black clothing.  Dress warmly.  Make sure you have transportation. You will be given pizza and soft drinks.  Groups of friends can volunteer together.  You don't have to do all three nights.

The Ontario Universities' Fair (OUF) is the only event where you can see all 21 Ontario universities in one place. It's a once-a-year, free event where attendees can talk directly with senior university faculty and representatives. The OUF takes place September 23-25, 2016, at the Metro Toronto Convention
Centre. Admission is free. New this year: Register for an OUF Passport – the easiest way for students and
