HS: Day 2
WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Students with overdue books and fines are asked to go to the Learning
Commons after morning announcements. (MP Sept. 30)
Learning Commons: It's time to start using those shiny new student
cards! Starting this week, students will need to bring their student
cards to the Learning Commons to check out
books, iPads, chromebooks, etc. Please make sure you bring your student
card with you - this makes the check out process faster & more accurate,
especially during peak times. Didn't get a student card yet? You can still use
your card from last year, since your student number has not changed. (AH Oct. 8)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Grade 7/8 Students are invited to visit the Learning
Commons before school. Lunch passes have to be signed
out every day.
Days for Gr.7/8 will alternate:
Mondays: Gr.7/8
Wednesdays & Fridays: Gr. 7 only
Tuesdays & Thursdays: Gr.8 only
Red
Maple (the Grade 7/8 Book Club) is coming soon. Please
sign up in the Learning Commons.
7/8 Boys and Girls Wrestling Team: All boys and girls interested in the 7/8 Wrestling Team
are asked to come to an important meeting at lunch on Tuesday, October 4th, 2016 in
room 333. Please Mr Quinn or Mr Connor for any questions. (BC Oct. 4)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
During the lunch period, no High School student is permitted on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the
new wing which is the 7/8 classroom areas. (MK)

Literacy Test: All students at MTHS eligible to write (Grade
10) or rewrite (Grade 11/12) the OSSLT (Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test)
will have an opportunity to write this test on October 20, 2016 which
will be totally online. Please visit the website listed here for practice
of the online version of the test. Students can get familiar with the test

The STUDENT SERVICES
WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool, including
information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses, Careers,
Graduation, Scholarships, etc.
The Irish
Experience Summer Programs in Ireland. 27 days in duration and offers 110
hours of instructional time to fulfill requirements of the Ontario Ministry of
Education curriculum requirements. Grade 11 English (ENG3U),Grade 12 English
(ENG4U),Grade 12 English (ENG4C)

College Expo - October 18-19, 2016 Toronto, Ontario
All
parents and students are welcome. Connect with US college representatives,
learn about admissions timelines and eligibility requirements for international
students, etc...

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Embassy Chef Challenge: Thursday Nov 3 from 5:00-10:00pm International
Chefs are competing in a competition with over 400 guests. They need
volunteers to help clear the dishes. A pizza dinner will be provided for
volunteers. See Mr. Hallarn if you
are interested. (JH
Oct. 21)
Watson’s Mill in
Manotick wants Volunteers for their Haunt Nights. They are looking for actors and
actresses who would like to take on main roles, as well as hair and make-up
artists. You will be needed for the evenings of October 20th,
21st, and 22nd from 5pm to 10pm. You must be 14 or older and will need parental
consent. Arrive wearing a base layer of stretchy, comfy black
clothing. Dress warmly. Make sure you have transportation. You will
be given pizza and soft drinks. Groups of friends can volunteer
together. You don't have to do all three nights. Please email: programs@watsonsmill.com

service? Then contact us…You can register for one or more of the following

complete an application in the “Student
Program” option for Carleton Lodge. This site also provides more available
assignment opportunities Students are expected to commit to a minimum of 2
hours of volunteering per visit, work on a regular schedule, and to abide by
