WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
April is National Poetry
Month and there will be a poetry
display in the Learning Commons. We’d like you to be part of the
display. Simply drop off a copy of your poem in the Learning Commons and
please stop by if you have any questions. (MP April 30)
Ski Club Refunds: All online refunds were done as of Friday, March 7th and should be in accounts by this
week. People who paid by cash or cheque can expect their cheques to be ready in
main office for pick-up by Monday, March 21st. Please remind your child to pick-up cheques!
A reminder to parents to please not do any
pick-ups (or have cars) in the traffic circle between 2:45-3:05pm. We
appreciate your understanding to this matter. (MC)

visitor parking spaces at the front of the building are for those visiting our
school, they are not intended for students or staff. (MK April 30)
Learning
Commons Seminar Room - When not booked by a
class, The Learning Commons Seminar Room will be a designated quiet study
space.
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Red Maple Voting Day is on Friday, April 22nd. If you have read at least 5 of the current Red
Maple books, you are eligible to vote in Friday's election.
Come to the Learning Commons Friday at
lunch for our regular scheduled meeting and vote. If you cannot make the
meeting, please see Ms. Bell-Dagenais or Ms. Podsadowska in the Learning

Team will practice April 14th, April 19th and April 21st. Please

Shakespeare
400: As
most of you know, the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth and death
is April 23. The English Department has BIG plans for April and
May. To kick things off, we invite students to participate in the
following activities:
1) Mural
Design submission:
- Choose a space in the first floor English/Resource wing
- Measure the space
- Provide a detailed ORIGINAL coloured drawing of your mural with a
Shakespearean theme.
- Due: April 29, 2016 to Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138
2) Spoken Word Showcase:
- Write a 1-2 minute spoken word poem on a
current theme of interest to high school students (appropriate language,
please)
- Perform the spoken word poem for a small
audience
- Perform the poem again during Education Week
(May 6)
Due for first performance: April 29 with Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 after school.

currently being accepted for the Government of Ontario - Summer Company Program
which provides start-up money to kick-off a new summer business plus advice and

The STUDENT SERVICES
WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool, including
information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses, Careers,
Graduation, Scholarships, etc.
Registration forms for summer school for the Ottawa Catholic School
Board are now available in Student Services. Classes will run from July 4 to July 25.
Forms must be approved by your guidance counsellor. Forms without this
approval will not be accepted. Pre-register for this program by June 28, 2016. (KW June 28)
The Milk Bags for Haiti Club
is in need of milk bags to continue weaving the bags into sleeping and sitting
mats. Please have your children drop off your dry, clean milk bags to Student
Services between the hours of 8:00am - 3:30pm. Thank you. (KW May 1)
The Nepean Eagles Football Club is
looking for cheerleading coaches to teach cheers and half-time dance routines
to Junior (7-12) and Senior (13-16) squads. Spring Camp is taking place
on May 24,
25, and 26 followed by regular season in mid-July until early November.
Cheerleaders practise Tuesdays and Thursdays at Bob Stephen Park (Barrhaven).

opportunities include assisting with programming,
cottage clean-up, laundry, animal care, gardening, weeding, painting, crafts,
outdoor games, etc. Mondays to Saturdays available. Summer volunteers are
encouraged to participate one day per week, for 6 to 8 weeks. Interview
and police check required. Must be a minimum of 14 years to apply as a

LF Volunteers for CN
Cycle for CHEO: On Sunday, May 1, 2016 we are holding our annual CN Cycle for
CHEO, the hospital’s largest pediatric cancer fundraising event which last year
raised over $942,000 for CHEO. Funds raised are used to support
lifesaving cancer research and treatment at CHEO. This fun, non-competitive
event offers a wide range of cycling (15K, 35K, 70K) and walking (2K, 5K)
routes for people of all ages and abilities. In order to make this a safe
and enjoyable event, we need many volunteers especially Route Assistants!
