Black History Month
Question of the Day: He is one of Canada's most celebrated
baseball players. He played for the
Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs, was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991?
A reminder to parents to please not do any
pick-ups (or have cars) in the traffic circle between 2:45-3:05pm. We
appreciate your understanding to this matter. (MC)
Any Students who wanted to order a yearbook but did not do so in the
Fall, will have another opportunity between February 29th and March 11th. The Yearbook
staff will be available in the atrium over the lunch hours to take orders. A reminder.... the yearbooks are $40.00 and
can be paid for with on-line payment, by cheque or with cash. Don’t miss
out! Plan to get your yearbook during the first week of March
Also, if you are unsure as to whether or not
you purchased a yearbook for your child(ren), you can look in your online
banking profile in the payment history. This is available whether you paid

spaces at the front of the building are for those visiting our school, they are

Commons Seminar Room - When not booked by a
class, The Learning Commons Seminar Room will be a designated quiet study
space.
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
MT's annual Read-A-Thon is this Thursday. There
are still a few spots available, however, it is first come, first serve. Space
is limited, so the sooner you return your pledge sheet and money to the
Learning Commons, the more likely you are to get a spot. If there are still
spots remaining, forms will be accepted before homeroom on Thursday. Happy reading MT! (NBD Feb. 26)

Grade 8 students ONLY. Grade 8 students interested in participating in
a social justice activity called a 24 hour ThinkFAST are asked to come to an
info meeting Friday at
lunch in the chapel. Come to the chapel at the time you would normally go

Annual Readathon for Gr.7/8 coming soon to the Learning Commons at Mother
Teresa. READ for FUN all day in the Learning Commons When?

High School Students: Anyone interested in participating in our 24 Hour
ThinkFAST this Lent is invited to an info meeting at lunch this Friday. Meet in the chapel at 11:45. See Leanne for more details. (LD Feb 26)
There will be High School Badminton Tryouts Tuesday February 23rd, Wednesday February 24th,
and Thursday
February 25th at 7:30AM in

Grade 9-12 students: On Sunday March
20th, Engineer’s Without Borders Carleton will be hosting their second annual
Global Engineering Youth Summit (GEYS). GEYS is a one day conference for
high-school students where they have the opportunity to visit Carleton
University and learn about the impact of engineering on a global scale. The
day’s events include multiple workshops themed around topics such as
aeronautics, improvement in medical devices, women in engineering, technical
design and political impact. Students will also attend a keynote speech from a
speaker influential in the global engineering community. The event is held at
no charge for the students, includes lunch and will be held locally on Carleton

Student Services Appointments: Students in grade 9 -12
who wish to meet with their Guidance Counsellors now make appointments on-line
through their my.mths.ca account. The appointment time will be
sent to the student's school email account. Students should be checking their
email regularly. Students in grade 7&8 are asked to continue to make the
appointment request in Students Services. (JH March 11)
After
School Literacy Class: The classes begin (Tuesday Feb. 2) at
3 pm in room 135. All students interested in preparing to write the Ontario
Secondary School Literacy Test are welcome to attend. Please drop your
permission form to Mrs. Watkinson in Students Services. (AB)

are hosting the 35th Annual Student Showcase at theCentrepointe
Theatre - Studio Theatre, 101 Centrepointe Drive, Saturday,
April 23, 2016, from 5pm to midnight. Showcase your talent in Battle
of the Bands, Singer Songwriter, Poetry Slam
Competitions for High School Youth. Entry Deadline is March
15, 2016. Auditions are March 22-23, 2016.
