WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS


Students with overdue books and fines are asked to go to the Learning Commons after morning announcements. (MP Jan. 29)

Bus Lists for Ski Club are now posted.  All Ski Club members are asked to check the list ASAP on the door on room 213 and other important announcements.  In addition, club members and parents are asked to sign up for REMIND to get important announcements texted right to your phone. Instruction handouts are available in room 213.  You may also follow the link: https://www.remind.com/join/64heb and join the class named Ski Club 2016.  Great News! You will be able to order Subway right to your ski club bus upon departure.  Order forms should be available on my.mths.ca by the end of exam week...(SM Jan. 29)

Congratulations to the entire MT community who gathered over 1000 pounds of toiletries for the Shepherds of Good Hope!  .....and the Pizza Party goes to Ms. Hadwen's class with over 4 pounds of toiletries per student. Special mention goes to Ms. Monette's class with over 3.5 pounds of toiletries per student.  Donations will continue to be accepted throughout the year in the Learning Commons. Learning Commons Seminar Room - Quiet Study Space: When not booked by a class, The Learning Commons Seminar Room will be a designated quiet study space between now and the end of high school exams. (CA Feb. 1)

Update to Allerject Voluntary Recall Replacement Procedures: Important Allerject Information: Following the October 28, 2015 voluntary recall by Sanofi Canada of all lots of Allerject epinephrine auto-injectors and the announcement earlier this month that the stock of alternative epinephrine auto-injectors is now sufficient to replace all Allerject devices in Canada, we remind you of the following:
  • Immediately return all Allerject devices to your local pharmacy.
  • All Allerject epinephrine auto-injectors returned by patients to their pharmacist with an expiry date between October 2015 and December 2016 inclusively continue to be eligible for replacement at no cost to the patient.
  • Please provide the school with a replacement (if you haven’t already done so). (MC Feb. 1)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

7-8 School Play- Rehearsal Schedule:
Act 1 only: Monday, January 25th, 3:00-4:00pm on the stage
Act 2 only: Friday, January 29th, 3:00-4:00pm on the stage

7-8 Boys Hockey: all boys interested in trying out are asked to look at the list posted outside room 332 for tryout times and place. First tryout is Thursday, January 28th. Please see Mme Beraldin if you have any questions. (JB Jan. 28)

7/8 Girls Basketball Try Outs are next week January 27th and January 28th in the wood floor gym. All girls are expected to be changed and ready to go for 3:05pm. Any questions please see Ms. Mandia in 236. Sign up sheet will be outside 236. (SM Jan. 28)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attention Grade 10 Students or students who will be writing the OSSLT this March:
Mother Teresa High School wishes to inform you of the opportunity for your child to participate in an after school literacy development course. This course is of special interest to students who want to access additional literacy instruction to maximize their success as they prepare for the Gr. 10 EQAO Literacy test.  The test will be written on Thursday March 31st, 2016.  The purpose of the class will focus on gaining confidence in critical literacy in a developmental and interactive learning environment.
The course will be offered Tuesday and Thursday after school for 6 weeks from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016 and ending Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016.  Students would benefit most by attending every session.  It will be held from 3:00-4:30 each Tuesday and Thursday. Please contact Mrs. Brady(room 201) or Mr. O'Connor for a permission form.

Writing Contest - Calling all poets and short story writers!  Carleton University's English Department is sponsoring a poetry and short fiction competition.  This year's theme is "Encounters with Technology".  First and second place finishers will have their work published.  As well, winners will receive cash prizes.  Register online.  Due date: February 19. (JS Feb. 19)

Debate Club -
The debate club will meet January 18th, February 8th, 22nd, March 7th. Meetings will resume again after the March Break. No experience needed. New students always welcome. Room 138. (JS March 7)
