LOCKS FOR LOCKERS: Students are reminded that only combination locks are acceptable for use at Mother Teresa High School. If you change your lock during the course of this school year, please notify the main office of your new combination. In addition, students are to occupy only the locker assigned to them by their homeroom teacher. Unauthorized occupation of another locker will result in your lock being cut and all contents of the locker removed. (KL –Sep 7)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
GIRLS FLAG RUGBY: Any 7/8 girls interested in trying out for the flag rugby team, please sign up in front of the 7/8 Phys. Ed. offices. Please ask your Phys. Ed, teacher where their offices are. The sign up sheet will be up until Thursday and tryouts will begin next week. (CN –Sep 6)
GRADE 7 HONK’N’BLOW: Mother Teresa's annual Honk'n'Blow is Wednesday September 12th from 6 to 8pm. Come try all the instruments to see which one best suits you. Saxophones, trumpets, clarinets and more!!! For any questions, see Mr Card in Room 120. (IC –Sep 11)
BOYS SOCCER: Any Grade 9 - 12 Boys interested in playing Junior or Senior soccer this fall are asked to attend a meeting today (Tuesday, September 4th 2012) at lunch (11:30 AM) in room 136. If you have any questions see Mr. Rowley in Room 136. (MR –Sep 4)
SR. BOYS VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS: All Grade 11 and Grade 12 Boys interested in trying out for the Senior Boys Volleyball team, there is a try out after school on Wednesday September 5th in the Wood Floor Gym, If you have any questions, please see Mlle McMurchy in room 233 (7-8 wing). (EM –Sep 5)

DO YOU LIKE TO SING OR PLAY THE GUITAR OR PIANO? Would you like to learn some contemporary Christian music? You don't have to read music or have any vocal training - just a desire to sing! Come to room 205 at lunch on Thursday Sept 6th for our first meeting and bring you're vocal cords along! (SS –Sep 6)
GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY TRYOUTS: Any H.S. girls (grades 9-12) interested in joining the 2012 Girls Field Hockey team are asked to come to one of the following tryouts: Wednesday September 5th OR Thursday September 6th. Tryouts will be held at 3pm and run until 4pm. Meet on the back soccer fields. No equipment necessary to try-out, however please wear regular phys-ed attire and running shoes. See Ms. Pendergest in room 236 for more information if needed. (CP –Sep 6)
NEW YORK CITY TRIP: Any Grade 11 or 12 student interested in going on the New York City 2013 trip are asked to attend a meeting at lunch on Friday, September 7th 2012 (11:30 AM) in Room 136. If you have any questions see Mr. Rowley in room 136. (MR –Sep 7)

WORLD YOUTH DAY 2013 INTEREST MEETING: The Archdiocese of Ottawa is bringing a group of Young Adults (18-35) to World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, July 17 – 31, 2013. “Interest Meeting” on Thurs. STUDENT SERVICES
STUDENT TUTORS: Student tutors work with other students on homework, preparing for evaluations and reviewing the material taught in class. Tutors can work for community service hours or earn $10 per hour. If you are interested in being a tutor this year, please stop by Student Services to pick up an application form. (MP –Sep 7)
$$$ TUTOR NEEDED FOR THE 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR. Looking for a Grade 12 female student to tutor a 19 year old young lady with special needs. Must be reliable and mature, possess patience and demonstrate responsibility and do well in Math and English. This employment opportunity would involve working 2 evenings a week for one and a half hours each evening. It would involve tutoring in Math and English, it would also involve teaching organization and study skills. The pay would be $11 per hour to start and the location is in Barrhaven. COURSE CHANGES: Students requiring course changes are asked to drop by Student Services in between classes or at lunch to book an appointment with their counselor. Do not sit and wait in Student Services as you will not be seen without an appointment. Please continue to go to the classes on your schedule, until your course changes have been made. Last date for course changes is Tuesday September 11th at end of day. (JH –Sep 11)

VOICEMAIL: Every staff member is provided with a Voicemail box to collect phone messages. If you have not already done so, please set up your voicemail so that it will properly reflect as your voicemail box. (Instructions can be found in your mailbox). Please make sure to check your voicemail box often, to pick up those messages, so you may respond to them in a timely manner. If you have any questions, please contact the main office for help. OFFICER’S NOTES – News and Information from our School Resource Officer
GET TO KNOW YOUR SRO… The School Resource Officer Program has been in effect in Ottawa Schools for over 17 years and was established for officers to provide support for school staff, students and parents. SRO’s may be involved in delivering lectures on various topics as well as dealing with incidents which take place at school during school hours or those that have an effect on the overall school environment. When an SRO becomes involved in dealing with an incident it may result in a conversation, mediation or a referral to an intervention or diversion program, or a charge. The School Resource Officer mandate is to build healthy, trusting relationships with youth of all ages by becoming a familiar presence in their schools.
