WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
OVERDUE BOOKS AND FINES: Students with overdue books and fines are asked to go to the Learning Commons after morning announcements. (MP –Jun 1)
DRESS CODE: As the warm weather moves in, we would like to remind all students and parents, of the dress code rules for our school (from page 8 of the Student Agenda). Please note that these rules WILL be enforced, and students will be required to change, as necessary. We thank you for your co-operation.
- All students are asked to wear clothes that are clean and in good taste, and appropriate for a Catholic school environment.
- Low-cut tops, tops with bikini straps, crop tops, muscle shirts, t-shirts with unacceptable language/pictures are not permitted.
- Clothing with messages/advertisements relating to alcohol, drugs or tobacco is not acceptable.
- Sleeveless blouses/shirts are permitted providing they are not low-cut in the front, back or sides. All tops must cover the shoulders.
- Clothing that permits the exposure of the navel is not acceptable.
- Shorts/skirts are permitted provided they are at least mid-thigh length.
- Torn jeans and clothing that reveals undergarments are not acceptable.
- Chains, studs, etc. are not permitted.
- In addition, students are not permitted to wear jackets, hats, headgear or bandanas inside the school building at any time. (MEA –May 31)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
7/8 BOYS SOFTBALL: Try-outs take place Wednesday May 30th and Thursday May 31st, after school from 3:00 to 3:50, at the diamond behind the school. Bring your glove. Please see Mr. Shannon if you can't make it. (KS - May 31)
TRACK AND FIELD TEAM: The 7 and 8 track and Field team is now posted in front of the 7 and 8 Phys. Ed. office. ** DATE CHANGE ** The grade 7 and 8 track and field meeting will now be held Friday during lunch instead of Thursday. (CN –Jun 1)

M.T.S.A.I.D. There will be an important OSAID meeting on Thursday May 31st at the beginning of lunch in room 324 to discuss our participation in the AMAZING RACE. (MK -May 31)

JUNIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: All students who ordered sweatshirts, please see Ms. Soprovich prior to homeroom on Friday June 1 in room 202. (SS -May 31)
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: There will be a MANDATORY meeting for all students interested in playing football next year on Monday, June 4 in room 119 during high school lunch. We will be discussing the football mini-camp that will take place after school from June 5 to June 7. (AC –Jun 4)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY. Please contact Assunta Ricciuti at sueandbrad@live.ca for more information. Family Pic Nic at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary school on June 12th from 4-9pm. Tthe tasks consist of helping children get on and off rides, helping lines for the make up artists, handing out food and cleaning up. We will give the volunteers hot dogs water and a few snacks but ask that they bring more food if they choose. (KW –May 31)

1. Year-end BBQ at Adrienne Clarkson Elementary School, Thursday, June 14th from 5pm to 8pm. They feed you, too! To register as a volunteer, please email your name, your school name and your phone # to faces.of.aces@gmail.com. Handing out food/drinks, taking tickets, running games and more...sounds like fun.
2. Touch a Truck event, minimum of 4 hour shifts, Sunday, June 10th, from 7am to 4pm at the Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre. SUMMER - DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM: Registration forms are now available in Student Services. Registration runs from May 1st until June 22nd. Locations include All Saints HS, Sacred Heart HS, St. Joseph HS, St. Peter HS and St. Pius X HS. The driver education program combines in-class, at-home and in-car instruction in preparation for the Ontario G2 Driver's Test. (KW –May 31)

BRIGHT MATH CAMP FLYER IS AVAILABLE IN STUDENT SERVICES. Not-for-profit camp for the promotion of math. The classes on recreational math will be held at Carleton University, July 9 to 13 and July 23 to 27, 2012. 1) OTTAWA CATHOLIC SCHOOL BOARD SUMMER SCHOOL dates are from July 4th to July 25th. Pre-register from May 1st up until June 22nd, 2012 in Student Services. After June 22nd, registration takes place at summer school locations on Tuesday, July 3rd, 9am to 2pm.
2) OTTAWA CARLETON DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD. SUMMER SCHOOL dates are from July 4th to July 27th. Registration May 1st - June 8th. Daytime registration is from 9 am to 3:30 pm at the Albert Street Education Centre, 440 Albert Street. OFFICER’S NOTES – News and Information from our School Resource Officer
GET TO KNOW YOUR SRO… The School Resource Officer Program has been in effect in Ottawa Schools for over 17 years and was established for officers to provide support for school staff, students and parents. SRO’s may be involved in delivering lectures on various topics as well as dealing with incidents which take place at school during school hours or those that have an effect on the overall school environment. When an SRO becomes involved in dealing with an incident it may result in a conversation, mediation or a referral to an intervention or diversion program, or a charge. The School Resource Officer mandate is to build healthy, trusting relationships with youth of all ages by becoming a familiar presence in their schools.
