WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
SKI CLUB REFUNDS: Applications for refund can be picked up in the main office starting March 21st. Forms must be returned to the main office no later than Wednesday, March 28th at the end of the school day. (KN –Mar 27)
BASKETBALL SCOREKEEPERS NEEDED: Any students who are interested in scoring the grade 7/8 girls or boys basketball games (which take place after school at 3:00pm) are asked to speak with either Mr. O’Donnell or Mrs. Agnel. (Volunteer hours will be granted). (AO –Mar 28)
WIN AN MTHS SPRING JACKET! The Business Dept. has a NEW bulletin board outside room 216 to communicate with students who are interested in Business but aren't enrolled in a “Business” class during the semester. We will announce contests, guest speakers, field trips, showcases, and any other business opportunities for students. Help us name the board. Enter as many catchy titles as you want before March 29th! See the poster outside room 216 for entry forms. (SM –Mar 29)
PIZZA: Pizza will be sold Tuesday and Thursday after school in the atrium. $2.00 a slice, supporting this year’s Prom. (NR –May 31)

HS REACH FOR THE TOP COMPETITIVE TEAM: There will be a meeting at lunch Tuesday March 27th in room 307 to discuss the upcoming tournament on March 30. (JS –Mar 27)
DEBATE TEAM - CANCELLED: Please note our regular meeting will be cancelled Tuesday March 27. We will reconvene next week. (HB –Mar 27)
GRADE 10 AND 11 STUDENTS - HUNTSMAN MARINE BIOLOGY TRIP: Meeting at lunch in room 202, on Wednesday March 28th, to view slide show and look at materials. Students need to bring in their $300 cheque in order to maintain their spot on the trip. Any questions, please see Ms. Soprovich. (SS –Mar 28)
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC COUNCIL MEETING: The High School Athletic Council is asked to meet today at the beginning of lunch in the Career Center (off The Atrium). The intramural basketball schedule will be reviewed. (JL –Mar 28)
HS INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL: High School Intramural Basketball will begin on Wednesday of this week.
Schedules are posted outside the wood floor gym. Team captains are reminded to have their team ready to start at 11:40 sharp. (JL –Mar 28)
BADMINTON TRY OUTS: High School Badminton tryouts will begin the week after the March Break.
The dates are:
Junior: Monday, March 19, Friday, March 23, Tuesday, March 27, Wednesday, March 28
Senior: Thursday, March 22, Tuesday, March 27, Wednesday, March 28

Attention students who have passed the tests for Royal Canadian Music levels 6 or 7: Granata Music is looking for students to work as teachers' assistants. The hours would be after school potentially between the hours of 4 and 8. A student could earn a coop credit or Granata Music may be willing to pay more than minimum wage. Due to the high demand of students, Granata Music is looking to hire a new piano & vocal instructor. Requirements:
1. Minimum RCM Grade 7 – 8
2. Positive attitude & punctual
3. Able to create and follow a lesson plan
4. Theory Background

TRACK & FIELD TEAM 2012: Any High School athlete interested in being a part of the Track & Field Team is asked to attend a meeting on Thursday, March 29th 2012 at the beginning of lunch in Room 136 to sign up and pick up a team information letter to go home. GET YOUR COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS: The National Capital Baseball League is looking for scorekeepers during the 2012 NCBL season (May 10 – September 1). PROM TICKETS! Prom Tickets will be sold during lunch on April 11, 12, and 13. Tickets are $75. Cash or cheque will be accepted. Please make cheques payable to Mother Teresa High School. PARENTING YOUR TEEN THROUGH TURBULENT TIMES - A SPECIAL DRUG AND ALCOHOL AWARENESS PANEL: The School Council of St. Francis Xavier High School in pleased to offer this important information evening for parents, to be held at St. Francis Xavier High School (St. F. X.) on Tuesday, March 27th, 7pm-9pm in the gymnasium. The school is located at 3740 Spratt Road, Gloucester in Riverside South. PARENT INFO ON THE ONTARIO LITERACY TEST: The Ontario Literacy Test will be written by grade 10 students on the morning of Thursday March 29th. All students are asked to get a good night’s sleep and to have a good breakfast before arriving on time to school that day. Students participated in extra help and preparation sessions during the afternoon on March 21st and March 22nd. OSTA CONSULTATION MEETINGS: The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority will be conducting public consultation on a number of proposed changes to transportation policies for the Ottawa Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) and the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) in an effort to harmonize policies between the two school boards. There will be five sessions in total, occurring on the following dates:
April 2, 2012 – A.Y. Jackson S.S. – 150 Abbeyhill Dr., Kanata
April 3, 2012 – Confederation E.C. - 1645 Woodroffe Ave., Nepean
April 4, 2012 – Glebe Collegiate – 212 Glebe Ave., Ottawa

OFFICER’S NOTES – News and Information from our School Resource Officer
GET TO KNOW YOUR SRO… The School Resource Officer Program has been in effect in Ottawa Schools for over 17 years and was established for officers to provide support for school staff, students and parents. SRO’s may be involved in delivering lectures on various topics as well as dealing with incidents which take place at school during school hours or those that have an effect on the overall school environment. When an SRO becomes involved in dealing with an incident it may result in a conversation, mediation or a referral to an intervention or diversion program, or a charge. The School Resource Officer mandate is to build healthy, trusting relationships with youth of all ages by becoming a familiar presence in their schools.
