ATTENTION SKI CLUB BUS 3: Please check your ski boots tonight. Did you take a black pair instead of your navy pair? Be sure to bring them to switch Wednesday. If you do not plan to ski Wed night, please bring the boots to Mr. Nearing in room 320 Wednesday morning. (SM –Feb 29)

WEDNESDAY, FEB 29^TH IS PINK SHIRT DAY: Pink Shirt Day aims to show that bullying is not OK and won't be tolerated. By encouraging the community of Mother Teresa High School to wear a Pink Shirt we can help to raise awareness of bullying and show the massive amount of people who support taking a stance against bullying and believe that bullying should not be tolerated anywhere no matter what the reasons or circumstances are. If you have purchased a pink t-shirt and have not received it, please see Ms Coyle in Student Services. (TC –Feb 29)

STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL: Hey titans! Are you looking to share your voice and opinions about Ontario's education? Then you should consider applying for the Ministry Student Advisory Council! The deadline for applications is on February 29th, 2012. This is a great opportunity to be the voice of Ontario students. SPEAK UP: Hey titans! If you have an opinion about Ontario education and you would like to share it then we have the perfect opportunity for you! We will be having a SpeakUp in a box forum at MT! At this forum you can share your opinions about Ontario education and we will send this information to the Ministry of Education! If you’re interested please pick up an application to come in Student Services. If you have any questions ask your teacher, pick up a student’s guide in Student Services or stop by Student Services. BOYS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS: There will be a 7/8 boys basketball tryout after school Tuesday and Wednesday in the caf gym at 3PM for about an hour. (MP-Feb 28)

STRATFORD 2012: If any students in grades 8-11 are interested in going on a trip to Stratford, Ontario in the fall of 2012, please see Mrs. Simpson on Tuesday, March 6 in Rm 138 at lunch. Students in grade 8 can see Mrs. Simpson after school. Plays have not been chosen yet, so get in on the decision-making process! (JS –Mar 6)

STUDENT SERVICES

TIME KEEPERS, SCORING AND LINES PEOPLE NEEDED: Do you need some volunteer hours? Do you know how to score a volleyball game? Do you want to learn to be a linesperson? Do you know how to run the score clock? If you said yes to any of these, you're reliable and available on the following dates (Feb 27, Mar 5, Mar 21, Mar 28, April 4) or you're eager to learn, please see Mrs. Ragaisis (Phys. Ed) or Ms. Soprovich (Room 202 in the am) to sign up. On the job training is available. Games start at 4 pm. (SS –Feb 29)

THE POWER OF MOVEMENT 2012: Canada's largest yoga fundraiser in support of Arthritis Research, is looking for volunteers and/or teams to participate in an event which takes place Sunday March 4. For more information how to get involved see Mr. Hallarn in Student Services. (JH –Mar 2)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: www.volunteerottawa.ca/youth is a new website geared towards students volunteering in the Ottawa area and accumulating their 40 hours. Click the GO! Volunteer tab to search for Volunteer opportunities. There are numerous volunteer opportunities during the school year. At times, there are too many to post in the written announcements. We ask that you make it a habit to stop in to Student Services and check out what is available. (JH –Mar 2)

FORENSIC SCIENCE CAMP: Trent University (campus in Peterborough) is having a Forensic Science Camp this summer for campers ages 13-17 with a keen interest in science. Campers will hear first-hand from practitioners in fields such as Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, Forensic Entomology, Osteology/Anthropology, Wildlife Genetics, DNA Forensics… For online registration and more information visit forensiccamp.nrdpfc.ca. JOB FAIR: The Kanata Employment Resource Centre is hosting a student job fair for ACE OF BLADES landscaping company to be held on Saturday March 3rd 2012 from 1pm to 4pm. The job fair will be held at our centre that is located at 145 Roland Michener Drive in the Kanata Centrum. Students must call to register at (613) 591-0667 as spaces are limited. GRADE 12’s / GRADS

PROM COMMITTEE MEETING: There will be a Prom Committee meeting for any grads who are interested in helping pick a theme for prom. If you are interested, please come to room 309 at lunch on Thursday, March 1^st. (NR –Mar 1)

GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES: In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June. As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:

· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance. The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by Friday May 11^th, 2012.

GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 11, 2012.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Feb 10)
