WOULD YOU LIKE TO COMMIT TO A BULLY FREE LIFE? Would you like to commit to a bully free life? Come participate in Pink Shirt Day on Wed. Feb 29th. This commemorates the event that took place in Nova Scotia where one male student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. The following day, most of the school population showed up in pink to show support. So The Stand Up to Bullying Squad challenges you -MT Titans to wear a Pink t-shirt on Feb 29th.You can purchase a "pink day t-shirt" on sale for $5 at lunch in the atrium from Monday, Jan 23rd to Thursday, Jan 26th. Orders will be in by Wednesday Feb 29th so that you commit to a bullying free school. Money is due by 2:50 on Thurs, Jan 26th. (TC –Jan 26)
SKI/SNOWBOARD CLUB: Ski club begins on Wed. Club members are reminded that they are to put their equipment in the WOOD SHED in the compound on the west side of the building by 8:30 am. Buses will leave promptly at 3 and return at approximately 9 pm. The remaining dates will be Feb. 8, 15, 22, 29 and March 7. (KN –Jan 26)
PIZZA FOR SALE: Pizza will be sold Tuesday and Thursday after school, for the month of January, for $2 a slice. Please come out and support our Costa Rica trip. (SR –Jan 31)

LET'S TALK TO SUPPORT CANADIAN MENTAL HEALTH: On Bell's Let's Talk Day join the conversation to support Canadian mental health! National spokesperson Clara Hughes invites you to talk about mental illness to help fight the stigma. On February 8 – Bell will donate 5¢ to mental health for every text and long distance call made by Bell customers. (MP –Feb 8)

CO-OP IN-SCHOOL INTEGRATION DAY: All co-op students are reminded of their final in-class session on Thursday January 26th. Mrs.O'Sullivan's group should report to 318 and Mr. Nearing's group should report to 213. (KN –Jan 26)
HIGH SCHOOL COMPETITIVE REACH FOR THE TOP: If you are interested in competing for the inter-high school Reach For The Top team please see Mr. Specht in room 307 by the end of the day Thursday, January 26th. (JS –Jan 26)
H.S. REACH FOR THE TOP: The contests will resume on Monday February 6th. Uberspam will take on TBA followed on Thursday February 9th with Team Number Juan grappling The Pierre Bouchard Experience. Games begin at 11:40 in room 307. Spectators welcome. (JS –Feb 6)
SCHEDULES FOR SEMESTER 2: There have been a number of changes to student schedules for semester 2, for example, room changes. Please do not follow the schedule you were given in Sept. Homeroom lists will be posted in the atrium on the first day of semester 2, Monday Feb 6. Please report to the posted homeroom and new updated schedules will be handed out at that time. (JH –Feb 6)
JR BOYS VOLLEYBALL: There will be a practice Thursday February 2nd at 3pm in the wood floor gym and Wednesday February 8th at 3pm in the caf gym. VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER: ANY grade 9-12 girl interested in playing for the Mother Teresa High School Varsity Girls Soccer Team are ask to practice with the team on the following dates... January, 26th, February 1st, 8th, 16th and 23rd. Pleased be dressed and ready to practice from 3-4:30 pm in the woodfloor gym. STUDENT SERVICES 
NIGHT SCHOOL - WINTER 2012 (FEBRUARY 21ST TO MAY 30TH) from the Ottawa-Carleton Public School Board. Registration during the day is from Monday, January 23rd to Tuesday, February 14th at 440 Albert Street from 9:00 am to 3:30pm. Evening registration is at the high school of your course’s choice (Adult High School or Merivale HS) on Monday, February 13th (6pm-7:30pm) and Tuesday, February 14th (6pm-7:30pm). Early registration is recommended as space is limited. Registration forms are available in Student Services. These forms require a signature from a parent/guardian, the student and a counsellor from our school. Once the form is completed, the original is returned to the student to take to the registration site of his/her choice for processing. (KW –Jan 26)
THE VICTORIA QUILTS CLUB The Victoria Quilts Club will resume the week of February 6th and will be meeting on Thursday nights in the library from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. Come and have some fun with a needle and thread to tie knots. It's that simple. No experience necessary. Earn community service hours. New members (boys and girls) are also invited to join. The more, the merrier and the more quilts we can finish and help out a great cause. See Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services for more information. (KW –Jan 26)
FRENCH TUTOR NEEDED: LF a french tutor for a boy who is in the immersion program at Berrigan Elementary School. Student must speak in french to him at all times. SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: The Ottawa Police Service will be running the Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) Program. It is an 8-week summer employment program for youth 14-17 years of age (on July 3, 2012) attending a secondary school program (2011-2012) and returning to a secondary school program (2012-2013). This opportunity provides the youth with valuable work-experience and training in a police and community work environment. The program is funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and designed for youth facing barriers to success for a variety of reasons but who are work-ready. STUDY AND GO ABROAD is returning to Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto for the Spring 2012 fair circuit. Come met directly with universities and colleges from around the world as well as with organizations offering internships, volunteer programs, work abroad, and adventure and language travel. VOLUNTEER REFS NEEDED: City Wide Sports Ottawa is hosting an indoor volleyball tournament on February 4th, 2012 at Albert Street School and is looking for volunteers to act as refs for the day. HELP NEEDED WITH SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENT: Urgent. Looking for help once a week for approximately one hour on Fridays starting at 3:05 pm or so for a special needs student. This 6yr old boy attends St. Luke school and arrives home around 3:15pm. He requires someone to meet him in the driveway, assist him (wheelchair), take him inside and attend to him until the regular caretaker arrives at 3:30pm. Great opportunity for community service hours. Family is willing to pay, too. Snow shovelling may be required at times. Ideal for students who have a spare in the afternoon. Volunteer tab to search for Volunteer opportunities. There are numerous volunteer opportunities during the school year. At times, there are too many to post in the written announcements. IT'S HERE! DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM REGISTRATION FORM! Visit your Student Services Office for registration forms. Registration runs from January 16th - February 17th. In-class lessons will be Wednesdays at Mother Teresa High School for 8 weeks starting February 29th from 3:15pm - 6:00pm. Students must bring a copy (front and back) of their G1 to the first calss, plus a copy of the MTO Driver's Handbook. This Driver's Ed program combines in-class, at-home and in-car instruction. Successful completion of this program allows a reduction of the G1 license driving period and a possible insurance discount (check with your insurance company). (KW –Feb 17)
GRADE 12’s / GRADS 
COCOLLEGE APPLICATIONS: Wednesday Feb 1 is the deadline to apply to Ontario Colleges. The application is done on-line at www.ontariocolleges.ca. All grade 12's have received an information page with the steps to apply. If you have misplaced yours visit the Student Services website at ss.mths.ca click on Grade 12 Information -> College Info to download one. See your Counsellor if you have any questions. (JH –Feb 1)
LAST CHANCE FOR GRAD PHOTOS. Grad Retake Day is Friday, February 17th. Edge Imaging has opened the site for you to book your appointment on-line at www.bookmygrad.com. School code is: MTH. If you are booking for a retake photo, please bring original proofs with you on February 7th. Students who have not yet had their photos taken can also book an appointment on-line. (KW –Feb 16)
