WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS 
BASIC POWER YOGA: For those wishing to try out a Yoga class, the Thursday Yoga session is now open for drop in classes for a fee of $ 8.00. Meet us in the dance studio ready to start for 3:00 PM. Comfortable clothing and a water bottle are recommended. Beginners welcome. (JR –Nov 23)
SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS: Teen Read flyers can be picked up in the library/learning commons or browse the December magazine at http://www.scholastic.ca/clubs/teenrc/december/T4A11_N.pdf. Drop your order and cheque made payable to MTHS in the learning commons by Wednesday, November 23. (CHV –Nov 23)
ALPINE SKI TEAM: All skiers interested in learning how to race this year should sign up outside Mrs. Brady's class (201). No experience is necessary. All levels of skiers are welcome and all that is required is that you own your own ski equipment. We will meet during lunch on Wed. Nov. 23 to explain details. Skiers from Grades 7-12 are welcome to join to learn to race and 9-12 students can compete. Think snow! (AB –Nov 23)
THE TITAN TALENT LOUNGE! Hey MT! The Titan Talent Lounge happens this Thursday, November 24th at 7 pm in the Cafeteria! Admission is only $3 and you can pay at the door! Come check out your talented fellow Titans perform, we promise, you’ll be amazed! We’ll see you all in the Lounge on Thursday Titans! (NR –Nov 24)
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR: The Scholastic Book Fair will be held this Wed, Thurs and Fri all day in the atrium. Drop by and check out the wide variety of books, posters and novelty items. This is a great chance to do some of your Christmas shopping. See you there!! (MB –Nov 25)
SKI/SNOWBOARD CLUB: The club is open to all students and is an inexpensive way for beginning skiers/snowboarders to learn the sport. Forms are available online on the Mother Teresa Website, in the office, or in rm. 320. Please return the forms to the office in the plastic bin on the wall marked SKI/SNOWBOARD CLUB. Forms are due back by Friday, Dec. 2nd. Return forms ASAP to guarantee a spot as last year we had a waiting list. (KN –Dec 2)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS 
7/8 STUDENT COUNCIL: All Grade 7/8 Council members are invited to Room 235 at the beginning of lunch on Wednesday, November 23. Don't forget to bring in your baked goods (peanut free please!!) on Thursday, November 24. (TC –Nov 23)
ACTS MEETING CANCELLED: The ACTS Team will not meet this Thursday. Please plan to meet next week at the regular time. (MD –Nov 24)
GRADE 7-8 PLAY: Always wanted to perform on stage? Here's your chance to shine in the 7-8 play A Fairy Tale Adventure. Audition signup sheets are posted on Mme Beraldin's door (rm 238). Choose a group of 4, rehearse the scene, make it original and be ready for your audition on Monday Dec 5th or Wednesday Dec 7 th. It is a first come first serve basis. Auditions will take place after school. (JB –Nov 24)
TABLE TENNIS: All 7-8 students interested in trying out for the grade 7-8 table tennis team, can find signup sheets outside of the 7-8 Phys-Ed offices. Grade 7 try out will take place on Tuesday November 22nd and Grade 8 try out will take place Thursday November 24th. (JTS –Nov 24)
7/8 REACH FOR THE TOP: Reach For the Top will be held on Thursday, Nov. 24. Come to Room 235 at the beginning of 7/8 lunch. (TC –Nov 24)
BAKE SALE!! GRADE 7/8 School Council is hosting a BAKE SALE!! Bring your quarters, loonies, and twoonies to purchase DELICIOUS HOME BAKED TREATS on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25th during 7/8 LUNCH. Student Council will be using the proceeds of the sale to help fund activities for ALL Grade 7/8 students. Student Council will also be donating some of the proceeds of the sale to support those in need in our community. Please support the FIRST ANNUAL Student Council Bake Sale!! (TC –Nov 25)

M.T.S.A.I.D: There will be a very important MTSAID meeting on Thursday at the beginning of lunch in room 209. (MK –Nov 24)
SENIOR HISTORY TRIP MEETING: There is a very important meeting for Senior History students going on the trip to the ROM and Medieval Times, Thursday after school in Room 305. The meeting won’t take long but is MANDATORY to receive last minute details regarding the trip. Please see Mrs. Galbraith ASAP if you cannot attend. (MG –Nov 24)
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR HAIR AND MAKE-UP: There will be a meeting in room 102, Thursday at lunch, for all of those interested in working with hair and make up for the HS play. Please bring your agenda/personal calendar. Those who have already signed up are asked to please attend. (CS –Nov 24)
STUDENTS AGAINST THE AXIS OF EVIL: The S.A.A.E. Team is meeting this Friday at lunch time in the chapel. Please be on time. (MD –Nov 25)
HIGH SCHOOL REACH IS BACK: The sign up deadline has been extended! If you are interested in fielding a team see Mr. Specht (room 307) for a signup sheet before the end of the day Monday, November 28th. All grades are welcome. Teams are a minimum of four people and all games will take place at lunch. (JS –Dec 28)
SAY IT OUT LOUD: November is sonnet month. Write a sonnet and drop it off to Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 by the end of the month. You might win a Chapters' gift certificate. (JS –Nov 30)
STUDENT SERVICES 
INTERESTED IN TUTORING? We are looking for tutors in all subject areas in all grades. Please stop by Student Services to pick up a tutoring application. You can earn community service hours or $10 per hour. (MP –Nov 25)
Y VOLUNTEER OTTAWA CONTEST: Take a picture, create a video, write a poem, paint, sing, dance...anything that answers the question "Why Volunteer?" Enter the contest to win great prizes. Entrants must be between 16 and 24 years of age. Entrants should live in or be from the Ottawa area. Entries must be in either French or English. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE: Ontario is holding an information meeting for interested students and parents on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 7:30pm at the Ottawa Carleton District School Board Lecture Hall at 440 Albert Street. (parking is available with access from Laurier or Slater) A representative will be present to provide information and answer questions. Please visit www.iseontario.on.ca for details about programs. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: www.volunteerottawa.ca/youth is a new website geared towards students volunteering in the Ottawa area and accumulating their 40 hours. Click the GO! Volunteer tab to search for Volunteer opportunities. There are numerous volunteer opportunities during the school year. At times, there are too many to post in the written announcements. We ask that you make it a habit to stop in to Student Services and check out what is available. Current Volunteer Opportunities include:
1) Interested in Volunteering at Winterlude between Feb 3 and Feb 20? See Mr. Hallarn for details.
2) Volunteers are needed to assist with children, youth, adults with special needs in various community programs and recreational settings. Opportunities exist in community centres and programs across west district - in instructional programs which may include swimming lessons, skating and gymnastics. See Mr. Hallarn (JH –Dec 2)
GRADE 12’s / GRADS 
GRADUATION PORTRAITS: Graduation Portrait Sessions are right around the corner. Photos will be taken during the week of November 21st - November 25th, in room 131. All students must have their picture taken.
For students who do not wish to buy a package: You are still required to have your photo taken in order to part of the grad composite and be in the yearbook. There is no cost for this. You simply make your way to Room 131 during the week of November 21st. You do not need to make an appointment!
For students wishing to purchase a package: You must book an appointment online. Please follow these instructions:
1. Type in the three-letter code at www.bookmygrad.ca. Our school code is MTH
2. Select sitting type, date and time.
3. Confirm appointment via e-mail.
All Grade 12 students are to pick up information pamphlets in Student Services ASAP. (KW –Nov 24)
UNIVERSITY APPLICATIONS: University Application Passwords were handed out on Thursday Nov 17. Any student that was absent from class period 2 or has a period 2 spare are asked to drop by Student Services to pick up their envelope. (JH –Nov 25)
