WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY: This is a reminder for all the students involved with the Remembrance Day ceremony this Friday. The Rehearsal will be on Thursday, November 10th at 3:00 pm on the stage. Please be on time. (KM –Nov 10)

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DAYS - BASIC POWER YOGA: One Month Yoga session Nov 10^th to Dec 1^st. Every Thursday 3:00-4:00 PM, in the Dance Studio. Have fun playing around with over 600 poses as you build strength, tone your muscles, decrease stress, increase flexibility, and work on your balance. Email: julierollwagen@rogers.com to register before November 10th. Leave your name, email and phone number. Minimum of 10 students required for session to run. Cost is $25.00 for 4 classes. MOTHER TERESA COMEDY CLUB: Do you want to be the next best stand-up comedian? Do you have hidden talents that you want to show off? LOOK NO FURTHER THAN THE M.T. COMEDY CLUB! NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! Sign-up sheet is in Student Services. Auditions are Thursday November 10^th and Friday November 11^th in Room 230 @ Lunch (bring your lunch). Requirements: Must participate in at least 2 Improv Games. (MP –Nov 10)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

M.T.S.A.I.D: There will be an important MTSAID meeting this Thursday at the beginning of lunch in room 209. (MK –Nov 10)

S.A.A.E. (STUDENTS AGAINST THE AXIS OF EVIL) are meeting this Friday at lunch time, in the chapel. (MD –Nov 11)

MANGA CLUB: Meets Friday, November 11 at lunch in Rm 138. (JS –Nov 11)

DEBATE CLUB: Any students interested in forming a debate club and competing in upcoming competitions are asked to see Mme. Bilder in room 313 Monday November 14 at 11:45. (HB –Nov 14)

LONDON TRIP 2012: Students attending the London trip next March are asked to meet briefly in Rm 138 at lunch on Tuesday, November 15^th. (JS – Nov 15)

SANTA CLAUS PARADE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Volunteers required during the Santa Claus Parade, weekend of November 19^th–November 20^th. Pierre Poilievre, MP is looking for volunteers to help decorate the float and participate in the parade. Please contact events@nepeancarleton.ca (KW – Nov 20)

STUDENT SERVICES

Y VOLUNTEER OTTAWA CONTEST: Take a picture, create a video, write a poem, paint, sing, dance...anything that answers the question "Why Volunteer?" Enter the contest to win great prizes. Entrants must be between 16 and 24 years of age. Entrants should live in or be from the Ottawa area. Entries must be in either French or English. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE: Ontario is holding an information meeting for interested students and parents on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 7:30pm at the Ottawa Carleton District School Board Lecture Hall at 440 Albert Street. (parking is available with access from Laurier or Slater) A representative will be present to provide information and answer questions. Please visit www.iseontario.on.ca for details about programs. GRADE 12’s / GRADS

GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES: In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June. As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa:

· PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance. The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by Friday May 11^th, 2012.

GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 11, 2012.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Nov 11)

STAFF NOTES

ALL STAFF WELCOME: Dr. Suzanne Simond, Psychologist with the Ottawa Anxiety and Trauma Clinic, will meet with interested staff for a presentation on Healing After a Trauma on Monday, November 14th, at 3:30 PM in the library. (MP –Nov 11)

JEANS DAY: Due to our Remembrance Day celebration, Jeans Day will be on Thursday, November 10^th. Wear your Jeans and help us to raise money for The Canadian Forces. Your $2 will support The Canadian Hero Fund and the Children of fallen soldiers. Thanks for your support! (KM – Nov 10)

THE MOTHER TERESA SCHOOL COMMUNITY INVITES YOU AND YOUR FAMILY to an evening with Dr. Suzanne Simond, Psychologist with the Ottawa Anxiety and Trauma Clinic, for a presentation on Healing After a Trauma. Topics to be covered: What is the normal coping process after a trauma? What is the process of healing over time? What are effective coping strategies? What are warning signs and symptoms of difficulty coping? What does Post Traumatic Stress Disorder look like? When is it time to seek help?
