WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

THE TITAN TALENT LOUNGE!  Auditions are taking place Monday through Thursday after school in the multipurpose room.  Audition sign-up sheets are on the wall outside of room 301.  The show will take place on Thursday November 24th at 7:00pm.  Cost is $3 at the door.  Come out and be part of huge Titan talent on a small stage!! LONDON TRIP 2012:  Students attending the London trip next March are asked to meet briefly in Rm 138 at lunch on Tuesday, November 15th.  (JS – Nov 15)

clip_image008CO-OP INTEGRATION DAY: Reminder to co-op students: Wednesday November 16 is a Co-op Integration Day. Co-op students come to school for their regular co-op class with Mrs. O’Sullivan or Mr. Nearing on that day. Students are asked to meet at the computer lab. Please note that November 16 is a shortened day due to Parent-Teacher Interviews starting at 2:30. (MO –Nov 16)

clip_image010 SANTA CLAUS PARADE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  Volunteers required during the Santa Claus Parade, weekend of November 19th –November 20th.  Pierre Poilievre, MP is looking for volunteers to help decorate the float and participate in the parade.  Please contact events@nepeancarleton.ca (KW – Nov 20)

 

HIGH SCHOOL REACH IS BACK! The Mother Teresa Reach For the Top trivia competition is on. If you are interested in fielding a team see Mr. Specht (room 307) for a sign up sheet before the end of the day Monday, November 21st. All grades are welcome. Teams are a minimum of four people and all games will take place at lunch. (JS –Nov 21)

Y VOLUNTEER OTTAWA CONTEST:  Take a picture, create a video, write a poem, paint, sing, dance...anything that answers the question "Why Volunteer?" Enter the contest to win great prizes.  Entrants must be between 16 and 24 years of age.  Entrants should live in or be from the Ottawa area.  Entries must be in either French or English. Entries are being accepted from October 21st until midnight November 27th, 2011. clip_image014INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE:  Ontario is holding an information meeting for interested students and parents on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 7:30pm at the Ottawa Carleton District School Board Lecture Hall at 440 Albert Street. (parking is available with access from Laurier or Slater)  A representative will be present to provide information and answer questions.  Please visit www.iseontario.on.ca for details about programs. clip_image018GRADUATION PORTRAITS: Graduation Portrait Sessions are right around the corner. Photos will be taken during the week of November 21st - November 25th, in room 131. All students must have their picture taken. 

For students who do not wish to buy a package:   You are still required to have your photo taken in order to part of the grad composite and be in the yearbook.  There is no cost for this.  You simply make your way to Room 131 during the week of November 21st. You do not need to make an appointment!

For students wishing to purchase a package:  You must book an appointment online.  Please follow these instructions:

1. Type in the three-letter code at www.bookmygrad.ca.   Our school code is MTH

2. Select sitting type, date and time

3. Confirm appointment via e-mail

All Grade 12 students are to pick up information pamphlets in Student Services ASAP. (KW –Nov 17)

 

clip_image020GRADUATION INFO:  The MT Graduation Ceremony for the class of 2012 will be held at Mother Teresa on Thursday June 28 at 1:00 pm. Each student will be given 2 tickets for guests. Students will be able to request extra tickets starting in May and will be informed whether they will get extra tickets, in early June. (JH –Nov 21)

ALL STAFF WELCOME: Dr. Suzanne Simond, Psychologist with the Ottawa Anxiety and Trauma Clinic,  will meet with interested staff for a presentation on Healing After a Trauma on Monday, November 14th,  at 3:30 PM in the library. (MP –Nov 14)

Topics to be covered: What is the normal coping process after a trauma? What is the process of healing over time? What are effective coping strategies? What are warning signs and symptoms of difficulty coping? What does Post Traumatic Stress Disorder look like? When is it time to seek help? Information has been sent home regarding Fundscrip, the main fundraiser of the school year for our Catholic School Council.  Fundscrip is an innovative program that lets you earn cash rebates for Mother Teresa High School based on purchasing gift cards at face value for everyday items like groceries and gasoline.  We hope that you will read through the Fundscrip material and consider placing an order on the reverse side of the form.  All orders must be in the school by November 18th.  We encourage all parents and guardians to participate.  Thank you.
